I wouldn't give up hope.

Technically, it's perfectly feasible to make many hours of gameplay. It's just that now we need a small team (and/or more time).

I don't want to raise false expectations here, but when I was trying to put my dream team together for DAO, I contacted Valine, author of "A Dance with Rogues". Last I heard, she's not planning to move to DAO yet (so please don't lobby her), but the point is that she knows that DAO modders like me who can deliver technically would work as a team under her leadership if she chose.

There are obstacles to delivery, but they're largely off-topic and surmountable IMO. We're still learning about teamwork in a hobby environment. There are issues for modders whose first language is not English. Custom content is still a sensitive issue (right now, for example, Valine wouldn't even be able to get a nude patch off-the-shelf, which is kinda fundamental to her work and mine). But, as I say, that's all off-topic, and we're working on solutions.

Like it or not, the increased fidelity players have grown to expect from the games also means the games become harder to make. Things aren't as much "aggressively unintuitive" but rather "much, much more complicated". Enough for the most to fail to wrap their mind around it.

10 years ago low polygon models with nothing but colour map were perfectly fine. Today, they'll only get you comments "man, that sucks ass". Content gets more complicated, tools get more complicated to cover these extra options, and the process of putting that stuff together into coherent whole becomes more complicated, too.

I dont mind some complexity in exchange for immersion at all, just takes time as noted.

I did load it once, and gave up initially , as compared to NWN1/2, I had zero idea where to even start, but alas I knew I just needed to dig but had no time at that moment.

What I do tend to mind in general is the lack of MP options for DAO, though I think enough of the team behind this game to have purchased it in the first place yes. It's a amazing game with alot of depth, but I"m not sure I can get excited about making MOD's yet anyway, like I was with NWN1 because I and friends enjoyed hours of entertainment that way.Playing through a game together carries a great day of enjoyment, that Im rather stunned wasn't focused on more given the amazing welcoming NWN1 was given and how long it was carried by its fans.

Am I alone in this ? ;)

Cheers
G.

No, but just go say that in the DA2 forum and see how well you are received... =]

I think the numbers are such that for every person that agrees that MP would be a good thing, there are around a hundred that hate the idea.
