Yep. Religion in our nation is much more prominent, and thus it tends to affect the things we can show in terms of sex.

Although implying people that dislike sex cards are purdish is fairly wrong. I Hate the sex cards because they juvenalize sex. Myself, I'd like to see more of it portrayed like ME1.

Cd Projekt actually agrees with you. I do too incidentally.

There is still sex in Witcher 2, but sex cards are gone. However boobs are still in that game too, you americans should really get over it!

Personally i think sex should be talked about more openly and not thought of something dirty and should be kept secret. However, puritanical morality combined with the squeemishness most people feel toward it in any kind of medium outside a bedroom wont let this happen.

Also, Im an American and i like boobies! Then again, as a female, i probably should Image IPB

I like boobs to.
Personally when i saw the boob cards i laughed my ass off in much the same way i did with the full frontal male nudity in GTA 4: Biker DLC thing.

Maybe it is becaus i am Scandinavian and i am kind of used to seeing topless women at the beach and sex is not a taboo in any form her.
I kind of like when video games have the balls to have nudity in the game when appropriate and it kind of pisses me of when games like DA2 is trying to go for the love/romance/sex thing and yet you have people cuddling in bed after sex fully clothed.

Did they dry hump or what?.

eh, to be fair, Hawke is in her underwear after she and Fenris are done, but that's the closest I've seen. But yeah, i hope they find a blanace between the rediculousness that was DAO scenes and "We must placate the conservative Americans" approach in DA2.

ME did it quite well.

They would show some skin, but not a lot and it worked.
It was tastefully done if you will.

and Fox News blew it out of proportion, like they do with just about everything that they disagree with. Image IPB I blame them for this "safe" mentality that's affected US gameing companies.

FOX news is the goddamned devil. Illuminati-esque **** right there (not saying I believe in that stuff, but FOX comes close to it). Bunch of loud-mouthed Smother Mother B----es.
That is all.

And MSNBC is supposed to be The Truth™? Or CNN for that matter? That whole ME1 incident wasn't Fox as much as some crazy author trying to sell some lousy book anyway.

FOX alone is infamous for nitpicking everything at a moleculed scale.... they try to act like everybody's mother without even a shred of an attempt to understand and rationalize. Other networks may do the same every now and than, but not to that degree.
edit~ If you saw the ME interview on FOX, you'll notice the b----h spokeswoman wouldn't even let bioware's spokesman even speak! Completely talking over him, especially when he was pointing out flaws in her argument... In fact I don't even think she was making an argument at all, more like emitting crow mating calls.

In my less-than-humble opinion MSNBC is just as bad in every respect. At least Keith Olbermann is gone though. Both flavors of news are pretty biased here in the US.

You can complain about the big pundits as much as you wish to, but the local FOX News in my state does a good job at actually reporting things.

Personally, I think every one of them is just as bad as the other. The only hope is to either watch them all or to watch none of them... the latter being much more practical.

Damn, there is no reason to have full frontal nudity in a video game, if you want to see some boobs and watch people have sex the porn is just a few mouse clicks away.

Hmm, do I take my chances with virus ridden porn sites or enjoy a good game with some "limited" nudity in it?, tough call.

They have been fielding a bunch of questions relating to their gameplay changes.  Has it been consolized?  Is it dumbed down?  I suspect that all this nervousness on the part of their audience caused somebody to have a creative spark that resulted in this rather polished spoof.  The funny thing though is that many of us (reading the comments) would gladly pay for journeying with this Bard mandolin weilding character.  It's not the gore, or the fights, or the awesomeness of final kills that makes a game, but rather the love that is invested into its creation.

I have no issue with the local news. Its the big national ones that have a tendency to go off the deepend that i disagree with, and i know MSNBC and the like are just as bad.  The unbiased state of national journalism seems to have died with the likes of Cronkite and Jennings and others. (although i liked Gibson).

anyways, waaaaaaay off topic now. Image IPB

It is not. How you could even think this is beyond me. It is in no way a parody of fantasy settings or bards or any such thing. It is a clear parody of the current state of the WRPG genre as a whole. Whether this is a stab at Bioware is iffy, but due to the fact Bioware is the main influence on the WRPG market, it seems likely. Not to mention the quote about the release of twenty launch DLC packs, which is certainly a stab at Dragon Age 2.

* Short development cycle

* Non-existant story

* No tough choices

* Full of Women and Wine and interesting characters

* Game that plays itself

ETC.

Yes. Its a dig at recent WRPGs in general, but how many recent WRPGs fit that mold?

Like others have said, I don't think it is directed specifically towards BW. It's just making fun of a trend observed in many popular RPGs lately. In fact they also make fun of their own game. In their case the shorter story. You can view that as making fun of DA2, but in the Steam ad for an example it clearly says that TW2 is shorter than TW1 (but that's because of the splitting story lines).

Well, the "impression" in the bogus developer diary is mainly a jab at Peter Molyneaux,( that sort of strange English cockney accent) and his late "Fable III". They also direct some of it to Bioware, as Captain Suble points out.

But in no way is a self parody. Its stating, in a humorous way, "We're making things different here" than the big mainstream companies. Thats the statement of the parody-

I'm quite certain that the accent is just a result of Polacks not being able to speak english real good 'n' proper like.

I figured people would say religion... but, in my experience, that doesn't seem to be the case. For whatever cultural reason, people treat sex here like it's beneath them... as if it's akin to using the restroom.

At a certain age, sex IS not only akin to using the restroom, but actually the reason WHY you use it in the first place (especially on festivals and parties).
