Actually you know what? I take it all back.
I hope the Witcher 2 does really well.
I hope it breaks records.
I hope it puts CD Projekt on the map.

So that EA buys them.

They admitted many times they designed TW2 for a more consolish play and I have little doubt we will see the game released on xbox but a few months after it's PC release.

Is CD Projekt being arrogant? Hells yeah. But as long as TW2 is as good as the 'fixed' version of TW, I won't mind.

I mean AngryOne makes great points, but hell, at least they released an updated version. Which is a hell of a lot more than we'll ever get for DA2.

I had fun with The Witcher, despite its numerous faults and your point about CDRP being a smaller development house sounds like apologist drivel to me. Anyway, this is off topic (shoot me a PM if you want to discuss further).

Apologist drivel? I'm not excusing anything BioWare does. I'm stating a fact that CD Projekt's survival depends more on it's games being accepted than BioWare's does.

I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Besides, they already have corporate backing. CD Projekt is a huge company.

Good luck to TW2, but a huge part of me wants to see it fall flat on its face like DA2 did. *evil smile*

I am honestly confused by statments like these.

So you people acctually would want to see the Witcher fall flat on its face, and probably need to wait at least till october, if not even november for another worthwhile Roleplay Game?

Deus Ex was moved till end of August (and was moved twice already this year, so it might be moved once more)
Batman Arkham City won't be released till October (okay we can argue how much that actually counts as Roleplay Game - but since we operate with DA2 standards here, i felt it worth getting out)
And Skyrim will not be around till november.

People with PC have Fable 3 to look forward to... but did i actually miss some other game this year, which might be worthwhile?

If not, why would you want to see the game, which possibly will be the only chance for solid and new entertainment for this summer (even though i still hope it will be a good summer, and not rainy and grey as it was in the last years) to suck?

Brandloyality is all good and fine... but seriously.. we are customers. Are you guys, with that mindset really only playing Bioware game? Do you sit around for 2-3 Years now waiting for some new game?

That sounds awefully dull to me.

Condemning CDRP's (not inconsiderable) efforts in delivering a better gaming experience free to their customers, whilst excusing Bioware of their own responsibilities sure sounds like apologist drivel to me.

I've excused nothing. I have merely stated that for all their ****iness, CD Projekt have yet to deliver a game that surpasses the quality of DA:O.
And no, nothing says to me that their enhanced edition had anything to do with commitment rather than survival. Even if it was, good for them. They tried to fix their mistakes once. They still made those mistakes.
Would that excuse the developers of DA2 never fixing their mistakes? No. It doesn't make CD Projekt gods either.

I for one will not play the Witcher 2, I will not play a game that promotes misogyny as titilation.

It makes you wonder about CDProject. Why do they hate women so much? They obviously have something against them to make every single woman in the game half naked. Even the main character's girlfriend is half naked and then they speak about making The Witcher match the medieval times when back in the medieval times nudity was frowned upon. Wasn't a woman showing her legs nudity to people back then?

I'll pass on The Witcher 2 as well. I never enjoyed the first.

I only have one thing to say about all this - are you (developers) proud of the work you've done? CD Projekt, for all their arrogance, seem genuinely passionate about the games they create. Bioware however, seem content in blowing their "loyal" fanbase off -

Muzyka: "It’s been polarizing to see the feedback, frankly. There’s been a lot of people that have been really delighted about what we’ve provided in Dragon Age II. People rating it 90 to 100 and really being happy with all the features and the focus on action intensity and the voiced protagonist and the way the story unfolds with the framed narrative and a lot of the things that are quite innovative and different.

There are other people that were expecting more Dragon Age Origins and more of the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate. Some of them have expressed disappointment. It’s something we really take seriously. We’re taking that feedback to heart and we’re seeing what we can do to continue to surprise and delight our fans in the future.

We’ve actually attracted a lot of new people to the franchise. Dragon Age II is selling faster than Dragon Age Origins. It’s probably part because it’s drawing a lot of new fans in. And that’s exciting to us. But our core fans are really important to us. I can’t emphasize that enough. They helped get us to where we are today. They’re the core of what we do, and we want to make sure we’re making games that satisfy them."

TLDR: Yes, fans are disappointed, but look at all the 90+ reviews DA2 has gotten! Damn we're good! However, we might consider changing the mechanics of DA3 in an effort to please ALL fans, but man, look at how fast this game is selling! Selling faster than hotcakes I tell you! FASTER THAN HOTCAKES!!!

I'd say it's because of the book but then I don't know if they're supposed to be half-naked in the book.
Moreover most RPGs from eastern europe seem to be misogynist for little reason, including the Gothic series where women are basically prostitutes and nothing else and Spellforce which does have female mains, but refuses to ever acknowledge that, blatantly calling you "a man" no matter your gender.

I have severe issues with objectifying women and women alone while depicting them in a game where women are little more than property.
I'm all for games with objectification mind you, as long as it's universal.

Not really. It had a great story, but the combat was attrocious. Really counter-intuitive and buggy as hell.

Yes, because in medieval times it was perfectly common for half naked women to give men cards of their naked selves.
Also it's funny how people go "it's like medieval europe! therefore it's realistic!" but don't complain about, you know, magic or anything like that, which did not in fact exist.

I'm going to laugh so damn hard if the Witcher 2 turns out to be as much of a hollow mess as the first one.
That one was being touted as the "saviour of RPGs" too. Whatever.

I will be over the moon if TW2 is as good as TW1.

I'm not going to harp on about this issue.. well not after this.. but remember when BioWare trolled Square Enix? They've become the thing they mocked.
CD Projekt obviously doesn't believe in karma.

So those things bother you? I am pissed off when i see in a game a warrior woman with metal bra and panties..Or when i see a woman like isabela go in combat with a corset and panties this ****** me off.. If you followed the first the witcher you know there is a legend of a really strong witcher.. A female one

The witcher is a mature game with strong content...and i accept it for that

Given the design changes for tW2 I suspect it was more a failure on their part.

Triss from tW1.

Triss from tW2.

And if you play the game I'd say the view of the women aren't bad, its more that the various characters through out the world have different ideas about women - Geralt for example doesn't seem to treat women badly at all, and generally have a good view of people like Triss and Shani, and questions an other characters negative views on women etc.

So I think it's more to do with the art design in tW1 that sometimes was bad, esp. for Triss.

And remember that Geralt is the sex object more than any of the girls/women in the game, and when he says no to some of their advances he says things like that he ain't their toy etc.

Regardless of how I am feeling about The Wticher 2 (that is, thrilled), could you please be more specific about this misogynistic attitude of CDProjektRed ?

Oh and by the way, one really has to hand to you that you live up to your name.

Yes, they bother me. I think it's crude and insulting, and speaks to a target audience that does not include me.
Does that follow that bikini chainmail for warriors doesn't bother me?
Given that hasn't been a factor in any recent RPG I've played I can't exactly bring that

If you followed the first the witcher you know there is a legend of a really strong witcher.. A female one

And maybe if that legendary Witcher appeared or was a playable character and got handed cards with naked men, I might authorise myself to give a damn.
