Has anyone read the books? I've read the english translations, and there are some savvy women in em. Maybe the game is a little lusty, but the main two women were not completely objectified.

I've read the first one, and honestly I didn't like the portrayal of Yennefer either.  It looked to me like a man's pinup version of a strong woman, not a real female character.  Gaider writes much better female characters.

I wouldn't say she's poorly written, but I don't like her character. She is what she is: a manipulative tease. Just my take.

You’re all over the place love. So you hope people will enjoy TW2 but will laugh hard if it turns out to be a vacuous shell of a game like DA2? Do me a lemon and yourself a favour and stop chatting fart.

... a statement based on people being oh so glad about CD Projekt's apparent trolling of BioWare.
As in "you're all gloating so much I'm going to laugh if it blows up in your face."

Honestly why do I have to explain this? I'm not exactly subtle in my wording. Maybe I need huge sarcasm signs and addendums detailing what I mean specifically.

Bioware insulted costantly theyr pervious game origins.. And also half of the community its normal to agree with cd project after what they did

I don't recall BioWare ever saying anything about CD Projekt, and karma has already bitten them back for what they said about Square Enix.
I was just saying that the same could happen with the Witcher 2, and I'd laugh >>> at the irony of the situation <<<

thats quite possibile but cd-project did a lot for they community... They also when the enhanced ediction was released permised to updateto the people that already have the no enhanced to that version... And it was a lot of work.. The enhanced ediction was vastly improved in graphic... Animations and have a lot of features... Bioware with DA2 released a game in alpha status full of bugs rushed and full of recycled areas with nice texture but not so much detail... This is offend your community.. Or use your fan thrust in a very bad manner...

Projecting a Utopian society is easier to do in games like Mass Effect, which can be seen as an extention of a "Star Trek" vision of gender equality.  The Witcher is set in Medieval times and is based on set lore by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowki.  Having not read the books, I don't really know how the sorceress guild factors into the stories, but their strong influence behind the scenes was alluded to in W1.

I understand that I really do, but the world doesn't come across as believably.  It comes across as unnecessarily salacious.  I am curious about the books as the source text may come across differently.  Adapted text is always subject to the one doing the direct adaptation.

That's because you have only read the first one.
Gaider girls are Xena wannabes compared to Yen.:D

The books have a lot of of strong female characters too.
Essi Daven, Rayla(the original one), Toruviel, Ciri.... etc.

Still, my favourite person would be.... *gasp* a lowly male and a Niflgaardian Knight Cahir Mawr Dyffryn. He rulz.

hehehe Regis is much better :D...or wait... Milva mmmm

My problem too is not with the books or the setting (I personally find the idea dull, nor do I consider gender equality "utopian" more than it is common sense).
Yes you can get drama out of misogyny. The problem is I don't believe CD Projekt handles it well at all.

I could go into another long argument but that'd be pointless. I will simply point out the obvious when it comes to raunchiness or exploitation:
Isabela <-> Zevran
Miranda <-> Jacob

Well, Cahir is Nilfgaardian! And all that "Lancelot" kind of behaviour seems fitting.:o

There is Dandelion who is the resident Estrogene Brigade Bait of The Witcher.

No one-sided exploitation for you lass.

Well, as somebody who enjoys the idea of playing "The Savior of Queens", unnecessarily salacious kinda fits the bill ^_^

All I'm saying is that I personally didn't find the game offensive.  This is simply another female's perspective (one who has typically been considered feminist).

Well i'm not going to argue with you there...DA and DA2s female cast have been truly fantastic. Though Geralt is himself portrayed as kind of lecherous, so I think the instances of objectification are as much him as a character as any kind of deliberate use of women in that way by the author regardless.

You know, I don't get mad if people disagree with me. Disagree with me all you like. If you like the Witcher, good for you. I hope you enjoy TW2.
When I *do* get mad is when people hurl insults and misrepresent what I say:

For the last time: I am not a prude. I have no problem with nudity or sex. What I do have a problem with is one-sided exploitation.

I think a priest near you is interested to hear of your problems.

P.S. Remember to tell to him it was a video game. You will get a free passport to the heaven.

Agree that Dragon Age's cast is very well rounded in many respects.  Have to disagree with the Geralt statement though.  My view would be that he is portrayed as someone who is appealing to the opposite sex (whether that be because of looks or the fact that he is infertile), you get to role play whether he is lecherous.

Had nothing to do with Karma, and everything with them saying 'xxx JRPG trope is stupid' and then WILLFULLY copying the tropes in their next game.

Which is just pathetic.

Whether I found the sex-cards silly or enjoyable enough as a light hearted joke is irrelevant really but I am a female who has played the Witcher, read the books ( different enough than the game to be sure) and enjoyed both. I didn't think that the sex-card thing in the Witcher was SOLD to me. It wasn't marketed to me, exploited in videos meant to lure me into buying the game ( and if they were, I didn't happen upon those ads! ) and so it was really just another thing in the game. kind of like the difference of seeing your naked partner to running down to the strip club and paying for someone to show you their bits. Just because they both share a feature: nudity in this example, doesn't make it equal. A joke doesn't necessarily mean they are laughing at YOU, sometimes they are just being light hearted and poking fun at themselves too. I watched it and didn't get the big deal. Seemed a twist on their own game title honestly. Some people feel so strongly for their own opinions/insecurities that anything they see can be turned into a battle for or against it.... doesn't make it really that way though. Perception is a funny thing.

Yes it must be nice for you if you can just ignore these things. But they're still there, and I refuse to be a part of it or encourage it to happen again.

Are you working for CDProjekt?, seriously if I had not already pre-ordered the collectors edition you would have sold me on it.
