I cant let this one go, cant I? Hmm..

1. I don't see the direct Bioware reference in the April Fools video, but whatever...

2. Geralt in TW2 can be seen completely nude, too  (can't post link but search in eurogamer.cz galery or witcher forum).
From destructioid preview

Characters feel human and treat you like an adult, the player is expected to deal with temporal jumps in narrative to keep up with the story, choices actually carry weight, and oh my god the breast textures! Not that it's a male-oriented or misogynist game in any way, just because it deals with adult content matter. There's plenty of manflesh and pretty boys to admire as well, and the female characters are strong, confident, and don't take any **** or act like girly caricatures. Triss Merigold in particular already feels like she's going to be a fan favorite of gamers regardless of their gender; which is how it should be.

(Spoilers) http://www.destructo...gs-198746.phtml

3. CD Project clearly stated that they didn't like the portrayal of women in TW1, and they react to criticism.

So, the chaps at Cynical Brit brought up some of the concerns around the depiction of a female torture victim in The Witcher 2 directly to CD Projekt Red, which led to a surprising revelation. Based on various comments about said torture victim arguably being presented somewhat… lustily, the developers are having a bit of a rethink about that scene. They don’t want people to be thinking sexy thoughts when presented with a tortured woman, basically – so they’re going to alter how the character in question is presented.

This point does beg the question, "Why is it that Cynical Brit had to bring this up?"  I've seen the original version and it makes no sense why this didn't raise red flags.  While I doubt seriously that they were consciously trying to appeal to an S&M crowd, I suspect that some estrogen interjection into CD Projekt might be useful.

Edit:  in the Cynical Brit link the issue is brought up around 15:00

true, though they seem to acknowledge the problem now.
We will see soon enough how it plays out.

It's going to play out like this: lots of violence, lots of skin. It will be a divisive title just like the first one. Some people will regret CD red ever left behind the sexy cards. The new cut scenes go waaay beyond what the first game did.

I'm confused, when in that video does he mention DA2, BioWare or anything related to either?

I don't think that video was targeted at BioWare, seems like he is just trolling the changes in the game developing industry as of late.

This is the implied message. I suppose the OP instead decided to read the comments as opposed to watching the video.

You do all know that this video and corresponding game announcement was the April Fool's joke played by CD Projekt on their forum members, right?

I hope you PC gamers enjoy your Witcher II torrents. It's going to be the last PC exclusive CD Projekt ever makes.

It is already not PC exclusive.  They designed it with the consoles in mind.

Wasn't aware of that, smart move on CD Projekt's part.  No sense wasting money producing such a promising game for such a fiscally worthless community.

Well, despite the lack of DRM, some of us will still be opening our wallets to give support, I'm not bothered if they dev for console so long as the port goes from pc to console and not the other way round.

As for this video, what are these guys going to do when CD Projekt's next game comes out for consoles and is designed with consoles in mind?

Which modern PC exclusive RPG are they going to hold as an example of what a "true RPG" should be? Oh that's right, there won't be anymore left.

Guess you guys will just have to settle with your platform being reduced to a dumping ground for shoddy console ports.

A small price to pay though for "sticking it to the man!" and fighting against the tyranny of DRM! You guys are fighting the civil rights movement of the 21st century. No, it's the 2nd American revolution! You guys are freedom fighters!

They haven't announced it formally, but the combat was designed thinking ahead to a console version.  That being said, they definitely kept all the complexities in the game that PC gamers enjoy.  The game was not dumbed down for the "unwashed masses".

I don't mean that as a personal attack.  I'm speaking purely on fiscal terms and in that regard the PC gaming community is next to worthless compared to the profitability of consoles.

Oh don't worry, they'll find something to complain about unless of course the game includes a novella on how to micromanage reagents for alchemy.

I just like to play games on pc. It's not that dramatic really.

And I agree with DJBare that as long CD red ports games to console and not the other way around, I'll be happy. Don't be hatefull Mr. Root. You know you'll buy and enjoy the game, like the rest of us. On PC.

And they will have all the rights to complain. Your point?
I also noticed that you own a PC version of Dragon Age 2. Doesn't that make you part of this "worthless community" as well?

Nope, sorry they seemed to have catered to those needs as well:

"Typical other Witcher elements make a return as well, like crafting, potion making, and an extensive skill tree.  The moment you first lay your eyes on the inventory system is when you
start to understand just how deep the game will go. It's a hardcore, but
still pretty accessible game that attempts to offers both a polished
and extremely immersive world while seemingly not restricting you in
your freedom."

Unwashed masses will have to take the 8 week correspondence course if they want to keep up :P

My point is that money speaks louder than words.  You can complain but it's going to be the better customer base that gets their way every time.
Don't hate CD_Projekt for having sound business judgement, they just know where the real money lies in this industry and they are afterall a business.

As for my PC version of Dragon Age II.  Yes, I am a PC gamer.  More importantly though I am more than just a gamer but I'm an actual consumer.  An increasing rarity in the PC gaming community.

I remember hearing some PC gamers complaining about how the controls are mapped to benefit a controller on the gamefaqs.com forums and this is before the game is even out.  Therefore, I'm still pretty confident that PC gamers will find something to complain about, they always do.
