More on topic: how is that video trolling BioWare and Dragon Age 2? It's making fun of modern western RPG's in general.

I've been looking into this game and damn, take a look at these screenies, this is what happens when you design a game first for a PC(no offense to consoles but they are showing their limitations). As far as nudity look at the uncensored link right below the pics, very well done. And no this vid is not about Bioware, just about the general simplification of games.

To add insult to injury, TW2 has gamepad support.
I'm beginning to find Bioware's lack of dedication... disturbing.
Oh yeah - from that thread:

Yea heh, that did put things into perspective following those screenies. Maybe they can put more love and detail into DA3 though.

Good!! Bioware DESERVES all the hate and complaints it is getting and I hope lots of games and/or developers start making fun of Bioware cause of this whole fiasco.
I don't mind people despising Dragon Age II but your obviously being an unreasonable jerk and aren't really a big fan of Bioware.

I didnt particularly care for TW, and I never figured that TW2 would have any chance of being better than DA2, but since DA2 wasn't as good as expected, I'd have to say there's room for TW2 to be super awesome, and possibly, unthinkably, maybe even be better than DA2. Either way I'll probably end up playing it, like I did the original. Hopefully it'll be as good as it looks at least.
Well the witcher 2 will be for sure better than dragon age 2 due for different factor:
CD project put love in what they do
Look this smal army camp evrything felt alive this add immersion:
The combat lookes like stylish and very fluid:

I doubt very much that will happen...they spent well over 3 years making The Witcher 2 into a memorable sequel to The Witcher...you only have to look at the trailers to see the love and attention they have put into the game.
It might even rank as GOTY 2011.

I don't mean that as a personal attack. I'm speaking purely on fiscal terms and in that regard the PC gaming community is next to worthless compared to the profitability of consoles.
The PC gaming community is what created the gaming market, and it is what keeps it running. Without PC gaming, these sh!tty consoles wouldn´t even exist.
Funny XBox is made by MICROSOFT. Don´t they do some stuff with PCs?

Now, I am not an expert on the history of PC vs. console gaming, but didn't the Nintendo have a huge part in making games easily accessible for and popular among the public? Not to mention new genres, including the RPG one, were created with consoles in mind.
Computers were and still are too expensive to keep the gaming market running, as you put it. The amount of people who own a decent PC is simply too small. Seems to me that without the popularity of console gaming PC games never would have been made in the first place.
So, please, stop hating on consoles because you feel butthurt by gaming companies who didn't create the game you wanted. PC gamers are not l33t, nor do they have the right to bully people who prefer consoles for various reasons.

If you can afford a console you can afford a PC too. They aren´t much more expensive.solstickan wrote...

Admittedly, they are a bit more expensive, but if you have a console you will need a weaker PC anyways for work, cmmunication, internet and whatever else so that evens it out again.

It´s just the other way round. Consoles were developed only after companies realised that you can make money with games instead of using a PC for work only.

This.
Which is also something I totally missed in DA2, btw. Heart and soul, alas.
I currently game TW1 and throughly enjoy it...especially after finishing the mess that was DA2 to me. The world is so lively and immersive with no C+P areas and I make choices that actually matter. Quite cathartic, really. Looking forward to the sequel, because I think it is miles ahead of DA2 and actually delivers what I expect of a RPG.

Where I live a decent gaming computer costs at least 1 400 USD. An Xbox you can get for 300 USD. Yes, I do realise that if you choose to build your own computer you can push the price down a bit, but that is hardly something the general public is knowing enough to do. Still, I'd say 1 100$ is quite a lot of money. Not to mention all the upgrades you have to do in order to keep up with new games.

According to Wikipedia (sorry for the "unreliable" source, but I just don't care enough to Google around), games for the console and PC were developed at approximately the same time (mid 70s). However, it was the consoles that made games popular. The first PC game came in the 80s and was by then a bit outdated. Consoles were made from the start to play games, whereas PCs had a more practical use, and thus came behind in gaming once it started to compete in it. So, no, I do not believe that statement.

Not every game need to be multi platform.
I dont want to play every single damn game with sh!tty console-graphics which was outdated 5 years ago.

Commercially speaking this is very true, but a programmable system was used to create those console games, I'm old enough to remember some of the simpler systems, essentially a card with keyboard and sockets for eproms, it was literally programing by hand with no libraries to call on.solstickan wrote...

That depends on just what exactly you expect of your gaming PC. I got my PC for about 650€ (whereas an X360 costs about 300), and it is quite good: 6GB ram, 1GB graphic card, Quadcore processor, 1TB hard drive.
Admittedly, it is not the best out there, but it is more than enough for every game I know and it´s a year old already.....

Developing games which take advantage of cutting edge PC hardware requires something called money, something PC gamers generally don't believe in handing over to acquire games since they have to "stick it to the man!"
Either wait until the next console generation or convince your fellow PC gaming community to actually start buying games. That is the only way you'll get more than crappy console ports.
Oh yeah, to the guy who brought up day 1 DLC, that exists on PC games as well so I don't see your point.

I bought my computer two months ago for 1 400$/ 960€, 6 GB ram, 1 GB GTX 460, Core i7 2,93 Ghz, 1 TB harddrive. This was on sale and the cheapest computer I could find. Now, perhaps my standards were set too high, and of course you could find a cheaper computer for a tad less power, but there is still a large price difference between a console and PC.
In any case, I gotta go now.

I have the vague recollection that The Witcher sold in excess of 1 million copies worldwide, which is pretty good going. In any case, when a development house shows the goodwill CDRP has towards their fanbase, it’s important to show your support. On that note, I was pleasantly surprised at just how difficult it was to get hold of two copies The Witcher 2 collectors edition earlier this week.
For a game of The Witcher's caliber, 1 million is really not that great. It's not disastrous but keep in mind that Dragon Age:Origins' sales were quadruple that.
Had the Witcher been multi-platform it would've sold more which is why CD_Projekt tried unsuccessfully to port it over. It's not a surprise that the Witcher II is being developed with consoles in mind, they obviously plan to port it.
