I read the first one and I am about halfway done with the second one. They are pretty good and definatelly give a great insight into how the Grey Wardens and the darkspawn exist in the world.
Anyone read the David Gaider prequel books?

Good to hear that I am not the only one that still actually READS. All of my friends usually look at me funny and ask "You actually read for FUN?" As if I had the plague. I guess RPGs draw the more intelligent crowd

I haven't read either book yet, but will likely read them over Christmas. My relatives will likely drive me nuts and I'll need a non-computer based escape to go along with DA:O.

I enjoyed both books, but after reading the second book the first seemed like a warm up. I mean that in a good way - but the second book IMO was excellent and a little more polished than the first. I couldn't put it down! It took me about two chapters before I really got into the first. I also liked getting the background information. I feel like I'm already immersed in the world, which heightens my anticipation for the game!

I have both and about 1/3 through the first. Like it so far and hoping to finish the first before next week. I think it will be cool to have a lot of background and be playing and reconize things in the game or have a better idea of the lore. From what little I have read in reviews of the books, the second book is a better read than the first, more polished.
I love to read - often have to balance book time with game time. Lately been spending to much time at BSN though lol its been a lot of fun sharing my passion with other gamers.

I'm glad he's had success with them, being a writer and getting into the business is tough. He deserves it. Btw, if you read this thread, are you working on any private projects on the side David or does Bioware have you working on DLC and other stuff?
