I have to remember NOT to but Mass effect 3 on release date!

You do realize that the liklihood of ME3 being this buggy is pretty close to 0 right?  DA2 wasnt in developement until after Origins' release.  Where as ME3 has been in developement since BEFORE ME2s release.  While I understand your concern to some extent, it is also baseless.  Dont worry so much ME3 will be sweet as hell.

It's also worth mentioning that one of the reasons the PS3 version of ME2 was sooooo buggy was because it was actually using the ME3 engine. Hopefully most of those bug-fixes will make ME3 *more* stable.

Even so, I'm planning on holding off at least a month or so after release, until I know how buggy it is.

Because of the severity of the problems added onto the completely lack luster product that is known as DA2, I'm not going to buy the sequel.

Those who feel cheated that they paid £40/$60 to be beta testers and feel powerless about what to do, the best option is not to buy the sequel.

Since we are all waiting patiently for this patch to come in so hawke doesn't slow down, I was wondering if I can start a new game and just not deal with isabella or ****** her off so I can still continue to play while I wait

Is Isabella neutral when it comes to choosing sides?

I've had a heck of a time trying to rival Isabella - it seems like she agrees with almost everything I do. But best of luck to you!

I have done this - it may have been a coincidence considering I did it only once, but gaining her rivalry and then gaining sebastians friendship allowed me to not face any attack speed bugs on Hawke.

On any other save, (With friendship on Isabela) I refused to use her past Act 2 to keep the friendship bug to a minimum, which still affected 2 out of 5 of my Hawkes.

Well, need to say smth. about DA2 PS3 ver. (sorry for language, it's not my native)
First of all, need ask a Bioware, or EA - what do you think about ITpiracy? I know, you are skreaming about it every corner, like this - OO!! this is terrrrrrrrrible Russians, they stole our games and we are loooooooost every coin!!!
Shame on you. How can you make such a product in 2011?
Me and my friends played DA:O - some of us on PS3, others on PC, but me and my friends liked the game and each of us bought it. We had hoped that DA2 will be the game of 2011. But we were wrong - it is impossible to play this game. Bugs in the schedule, which is hung music, glitches in the game itself, the untested route and skills - all bugs are collected in this game. It's look like Buggerfall, I mean Daggerfall 20-th years ago.. And now the loyal fans of the game, paying for it no less than $ 130, waiting for the elementary corrections in the code, which hell knows when out. I am very disappointed and probably will never buy the game earlier than 6 months from the date of their issuance.
Thank you for your attention.

You can friend Isabela safely, all you have to do is make sure you don't reload the game while she is in the party.  So if you take Isabela on a quest and you die during that quest, you cannot reload the Autosave because that will trigger the bug.  You have to reload at a point before she was in the party.  So if you want to use Isabela, save the game before adding her to the party.

Yes, it's annoying but it works... I managed to complete the game no problems doing this.  There are other circumstances when it is safe to save with her in the party too, like it is safe if you are inside Kirkwall DURING THE DAY and inside other party members homes, i.e. Anders Clinic, Merrill's house and Fenris' mansion.

The other thing you have to look out for is when the game forces Isabela out of the party - which happens when you go into the Hawke Estate and into the Qunari compound.  You must avoid this, otherwise you have to add her to the party again - go to a companions home and then save and reload.

Don't ask me how people discovered all of this stuff... all I know is it works! lol

But yeah, if you are genuinely having trouble getting Isabela to 50% rivalry before the end of Act 2 then it's worth just going for it friendship-wise and then being very careful of when you save and reload when she is in the party.

It seems like every new game I get makes me wonder what happened to the QA. There are very few games released recently (especially by EA) that don't feel completely full of bugs.

Let's just be happy it's not as bad as Fallout: New Vegas. That game is unplayable.

Even with the latest patch its still horrible lol...My copy is sitting in my case right now collecting dust.  Hell, NV is so bad in that regard I dont even want to sell it to gamestop because I wouldnt wish a game with that many bugs on my worst enemy XD

Same here. I have NV sitting in the bottom of the-place-where-I-keep-games hidden in shame. I desperately want to trade it in, but I'd feel evil. Plus, honestly, it would be an amazing game with a decent story if it wasn't so impossible to play.

However, DA2 can feel the same way sometimes.

I wish they could at least give us a release date of this patch after conspiring with Sony Certification. I had to start all over again in hopes that by the time they release this patch it will fix this slow-mo bug. This is the first game I've ever experienced this type of debilitating game flaw before. I really liked the game before my character got bugged. Looking back I wish they could have caught this flaw; going forward I hope they release the patch immediately to correct this problem.

I finished one playthrough of Dragon Age 2, I encountered no truly game breaking bugs. However, there were quite a few annoyances such as slow motion Hawke, Nathaniel and Architect fates not importing correctly, and the occassional freeze. I only encountered one romanced based bug with Merril. She initiated post companion quest dialogue before I even activated said quest (also only instance of Hawke giving a layered response).

I really want the Nathaniel/Architect fates and free Fereldan Circle boon bugs fixed. These are really rather minor bugs, they are the ones that get under my skin the most.

As for the bug situation as a whole, I am trying to take things in stride. I just remember how Dragon Age was rendered completely unplayable on the PS3 last year around this time. Also, Awakening, which at times felt like it seemed to have more content left out than put in.

I'm very happy to hear about the patch. However, i really wish bioware would acknowledge the frustration we loyal gamers have had to deal with as well as our frustration that this patch was needed in the first place. When a person purchases something, they expect it to be free of errors. The whole thing is a shame really as the Dragon Age games are my favorite games.

With that said, I truly can not wait for the patch so I can replay this awesome game a second time--The way it was meant to be played.

**some** of the bugs in the game take thousands of players to find after retail and can easily be missed by the 20 or so employed Bioware games testers - especially in a complex game like this with thousands of combinations of dialogue, party and gear choices.

Yes but its just like you said **some** of the bugs take thousands etc.  However, everybody is experiencing this issue.  I'm going to stick it out and wait for the patch.  I'm not about to jump ship now.  In the end I will probably not buy another Bioware game on release, but i will still buy them.

Its like i said it was a shame because for the first chapter of the game I truly felt like DA2 was the funnest game I had ever played.  then everything happened and disappointed me.

Yet, my biggest issue wasn't with the bugs.  Bioware is addressing that.  Making it right.  My biggest issue was with the lack of apology.  I understand that they can't say "this is all our fault and we should have known better" because of legal issues.  But they could have found a way to say "we're sorry this happened" without admitting fault.

But either way when the patch comes out people will mostly forget about the whole thing because its fixed but I don't know if I will quite honestly.

You're very welcome.  The ways to avoid the slow-mo bug are discussed at length in this thread here.  I think it's worth reading if you want to continue a playthrough now rather than wait for a patch.

It sounds like it would be a nightmare to keep on top of, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad.  Also it's worth mentioning that Isabela is forced out of the party for a long time at the end of Act 2 meaning you cannot die throughout that whole sequence and then as soon as you reach Act 3 you have to go find her, add her to the party again, then go to a companion's house - save it, and reload.  It's a bit crazy, but I would recommend turning down the difficulty when you get to that part to avoid driving yourself mad having to start at the beginning of the quest if you happen to die!:pinched:

At the very least, it adds an extra layer of tension to that part of the game! haha

UGH... its all so frustrating. I'm the type of person that gets completely immersed in the game for bursts of time and I don't really feel like going through all of the editors and saving/loading at certain times. We should be able to sit down and play for a couple hours at a time... slaughter some undead, upgrade the characters, follow some dialogue, read the forum posts about how others did it, and like someone else always says 'rinse & repeat.'

I like the ability to vent on the forum though, that's at least a hint of fulfillment.

They should start an official countdown clock for the patch- that would be awesome.

If by bricked, you mean their consoles broke, you do realize that BioWare could have a class action law suit on their hands if it happened to enough people.  Same thing happened with Final Fantasy XIII for PS3.  Sony/Square ended up in a class action law suit because of it.
