uuuummmmmmm shouldn't the "certification team" already have saw these bugs and problems??? next time dont sell the game until its ready. or sell it at a lesser value since you KNEW the problems were already there. the reason you dont know whats in the patch is because you are still WORKING on the game and dont know what you can get done in time to satisfy the public. DONT SELL ANY GAMES THAT ARE NOT READY!! ITS NOT THAT HARD!!!

A gross misunderstanding of how the patching progress works, along with a lot of baseless assumptions.  They can't just have the patch ready and then release it.

Yes they can, I've seen plenty of day one patches on the 360, so don't say between the time the game goes gold to the time of release there is not time enough to playtest and work on a patch, you are sadly giving far too much credit to the team

I'm glad to hear SOMETHING on this. But, like many, the 2 things I care most about are:

1. Fix the "thumbs up" glitch
2. the patch MUST be retroactive/fix save game files, not just on new play throughs.

And those patches had passed certification before Day One.

Probably not, since it appears they passed nearly all the QA heavy lifting onto the consumer.

I could not agree more. I didn't know I had to pay to be a QA for DA2 and then turn around and buy the DLC and QA that.
Tisk Tisk Bioware, not only did you sell us the Beta version of DA2 but you slap us in the face for making us pay full price for it. Rushing something that could have been epic is a complete fail not only to you but to the consumer. I for one will not rush out to purchase any of your games since you cannot produce a whole game at the time of release. I understand a few minor patches, but when a game is almost unplayable....that is unforgivable.

It would be nice to also be given some free DLC in view of all these issues...And I mean real proper DLC that is useful.

They did give us free DLC. Two in game ones if you bought the SE version and all the free items from their promotions and the Legends fb game. You aren't gong to get any more free DLC. That's just how it is. Even I know this.

Mainly because BioWare does not care about their customers past getting their customers money

Well I got bit by Sebastien's "Man of the Cloth" bug last night, which effected ALL my saves on that character, not just the save made after I got hit with the bug. Also, "Man of the Cloth" does not work the same way as the Isabella bug, which I had managed to avoid by using some of the workarounds posted, so I can only hope Bioware knows that and has a fix for it coming in this patch.

I keep reading people wondering how these bugs made it through testing. As a person who has done both closed and open betas it looks like none was done, or very little was done by absolute morons who let the good of DA2 distract them from glaring problems.

Those free items are worthless. I'm in act 2 and almost all of the "free" items that I have are no longer useful. They didn't make the game better. And I wouldn't consider them free. They were for pre-orders, owning Dead Space 2, liking them in facebook and stuff like that.

What they did do was charge us extra for content (the exiled prince) that was finished way before the game was released and should have been included in the game. And its full of bugs.

If BioWare didn't care about their customers beyond getting their money, then this thread wouldn't exist, would it?

That's naive.
(I'm not saying whether I agree with the opinion expressed, btw. )

I've got both the Sebastian and Isabela bug. It renders my character unplayable.

Hopefully once the patch comes out, we can just use makers sigh and move on with the game.

The Exiled Prince DLC came with the SE version of the game. If you didn't get the SE version then yes you had to pay for it. That was stated months in advance of the games release.

Also for those stating that Bioware doesn't care, if they didn't care they'd leave the game as is and tell us to go away or something along those lines. Bioware actually cares, and yes maybe they screwed up. It happens. No one is 100% perfect and they never will be.

Not sure why you would need to use Maker's Sigh.  The game should be able to know that your default damage resistance is 0 and your default attack speed is 100%, and then correctly apply the appropriate modifiers.  These bugs come from that fact that it currently doesn't.

I agree, I like everyone else get mad and say things I don't mean.  The point is that video games are becoming very complicated now that your actions in a previous game are included in the story.  I loved playing DA2 I have been very frustrated with the bugs, particularly Finding Nathaniel/Fool's Gold quest, but I know bioware will work to keep our loyalty by repairing this game.  The fact that these threads exist shows that they care about our opinions and feedback.

That actually makes sense. I take back what I said then.

Haha, "free DLC". Yes I'm grateful for the free DLC that broke my game even further (Maker's Sigh) that they so generously gave out as a bonus, even though the core game wasn't freaking finished or functional in any way. I absolutely love pre-release DLC as though actually putting content into a game is some sort of special "bonus" I should be thanking them for.

That's a lame excuse, this game is way smaller and less complicated than the first game and yet more broken.
The save imports have 1000x less impact than they do in Mass Effect 2 which was completely functional and polished on release.

I'm not going to bite the hand that gives me a DA2 patch. At this point we all know this was released without proper QA vetting. I'm just happy to have a patch update that presumably will be within the month, and not within a year. Thanks Chris! Let's hope it fixes the *major* bugs at least. Namely improper saving/loading, quest bugs with merril, and some of the broken skills.

EDIT:  I should mention that this whole experience has completely turned me off from buying Bioware games pre-ordered.  No threats, you've just lost an automatic customer.  If/when DA3 appears I'll wait a bit to read both the reviews as well as any bugs that may exist in the game.

DA2 is an ok game.  I actually really enjoy the new combat system.  I just don't like that I'm for all intents and purposes Bioware's QA department, and I don't like that they took a lot of obvious shortcuts such as map reusage and what I believe was a far inferior plot/storyline.
