BioWare you have had 5 weeks to fix this game and not only have you not fixed it you have said that you cant say what or when it will be fixed. Everyone of us here paid full price for a game that could arguably be classified as a beta version, not a finished product. I have been a customer of yours for several years now and i have to say that this is the first time that i am truly disgusted by my experience with you. Fix the game Don't fix it I just don't care any more.
Goodbye

EDIT:  I should mention that this whole experience has completely turned me off from buying Bioware games pre-ordered.  No threats, you've just lost an automatic customer.  If/when DA3 appears I'll wait a bit to read both the reviews as well as any bugs that may exist in the game.

I truly hope that everyone that has shared a similar experience will follow suit. If we all quit pre-ordering this "Release now finish later" attitude will go away. If people started to actually wait a month or two after games get released the industry would really see a shift in dynamics. Customers just haven't really formed any kind of solidarity and true consumer protections haven't been pioneered for gamers yet.

The heavy push for pre-orders by companies is really crucial to many of their investor's. It shows customer faith in their products. This makes it even worse when they trample on that good will. Not only do instant buy pre-order customers PAY FOR THE PRODUCT and GIVE BIO/EA MONEY they also show FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND BRAND LOYALTY to Bio/Ea's SHAREHOLDERS.

It's a DOUBLE FAVOR from the consumers to the devlopers. We buy the game and we show heavy support for the game before it is ever released which makes investors happy. WIN-WIN for the developers.

YOU (the consumers) do the developers and the corporation they work for a really huge DOUBLE AWESOME FAVOR by pre-ordering or even buying early. For them to REPAY YOU by releasing an unfinished product is an UNFAIR TRADE and YOU (the consumers) should not be happy about it.

What do people think is going to happen when SW:TOR comes out? MMO launches are messy when handled by the best of teams ... Bio is struggling to even release CONSOLE GAMES without massive game breaking bugs.

I know the forums are going to be awesome when SW:TOR releases.

I'm not sure we can trust game reviews because I have yet to come across a DAII review that mentions the game ruining bugs.

Most game reviews are part of the marketing machine for publishers. This is a wall of propaganda that stands between true gaming critique and the consumer. It also ties in to the pre-order marketing plan and assurance of a product's worth for investors.

Game sites want to get early reviews, so they want those early review copies. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens if your reviewers sound an early rallying call for consumers in their reviews.

I usually don't get around to pre-ordering because I'm forgetful. I am now disinclined to do so even if I remember. I would wait awhile before getting any future games if I were not such an impatient, impulsive loon.

On the subject of lunacy, these game bugs are bad for my health! :crying:

I usually don't pre-order games as well but for this game I did because I wanted the SE. I do regret doing so a little bit and you are right Monkey Lungs The old republic will probably have crazy bugs.

The only thing I hear from you people is, "damn you Bioware for fixing your game! How dare you do such a thing?!" As far as I'm concerned, there is no sense in complaining like a child.

Is that really the only thing you hear?  I agree some people have overreacted, but you seem to be doing the same yourself.  People have a right to complain when they purchase a game, play, get halfway through, and suddenly discover their character can't attack anymore.  Lots of people in this thread have thanked Bioware/Chris for the update, but are also pointing out that many of these bugs should have been detected before the game was released.  I don't see anything wrong with that.

I have played and finished 4 times thus far. I have worked around all the bugs (albeit some annoying). One I noticed in particular was that Merril was getting hammered every fight and her rock armor was not triggering. When I checked all her spells were different to what I had picked and all her magic points had gone into strength. I used a makers sigh, but it happened again in act 3. I managed to finish but as it was my last playthrough I was not too worried.

Though I do feel at this point a patch for me now is pointless. I have gotten bored and put it down for now. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the bugs did not cause me too many problems. I was a beta tester for Age of Conan and that had more bugs than any game I had ever seen. It would get bugs daily after release and I later became a moderator directly related to rectifying the bugs. People need to realise that fixing them does take time, but I do think this one has gone on a bit too long and still no word as to when. Releasing a small patch here and there fixing things as they go may have been a better idea instead of going for the big fix and upsetting people.

My local EB games has told me that this game is by far their most returned game.

Can you imagine if they had done multiple patches for this game? How many patches would break previous patches? Moreover, the calls for their heads over "get it right the first time" would then become "my god, they can't do ANYTHING right!" No, doing one huge patch up front is a good thing. Of course, this all depends on if they DO get it right (which I have faith that they will).

At least he was honest there was about that many problems. I have to agree though, either take a few more years for development or hire more testers. Sometimes I wish we didn't have the ability to have our games patched because then when the game is released in this kind of bad shape the company gets slammed harder and doesn't make the same mistake usually.

Downloadable updates: It spoils companies. The end.

Thanks for the patch whenever it arrives.

I'm reading about gamers saying we got free DLC, actually we did NOT that content could have been put on the disc. It's common for developers and publishers to hold back content on purpose and then tell the public it was too late and was put as free DLC instead.
When will people stop being fooled to what is free and what isn't? The DLC that Bioware gave us 'free' which in fact was content that should have been on the disc isn't something I would praise at all. What I liked about DA1 dlc was the KEEP because you got to find starmetal and was then able to get the smith to make you an epic weapon.

The other thing that upsets me is that you kill a High Dragon and you cannot even take its skin to make armour like in the first game.

Can't wait for all my bugs to be fixed

(even though I only had one in my playthrough, and that was just a texture glitch)

As soon as it clears Microsoft certification. Your guess is as good as ours at this point.

You can give Microsoft a call and tell em I said everything is cool. They can release it now. I really want to continue my second playthrough.

Nope. Essentially, we are holding off in the very unlikely chance they find something detrimental and we have to cut it. Unfortunately, telling people something is in the game and then not having it there does not go over well.

On the plus side, once it certs for one platform, the patch notes will be released for that platform and you can extrapolate whatever you would like from that about the other platforms ;)
