Dragon Age II Patch update
#151
Posté 06 avril 2011 - 06:15
1) Isabela/Sebastian Friendship Bug
2) Merril personal quest bugs
3) Armistice/Goad bugs
4) Shield Defense bug
5) All the rest
I kinda feel like the top 4 are close to unavoidable and kinda spoil the game a bit. Sure, I can not use 3 companions (or not become their friends), I can decide not to use 4/10 of the skills under on tree, and I can decide never to swap out my shield equipment, but I don't see any of those alternatives as reasonable. The whole extra money by clicking multiple times on a quest doesn't bother me, because I can... just not click multiple times.

Yeah, the companion bugs should be a priority. They also have to fix the SDTV aspect ratio and cutscene glitches. There's no workaround for this other than buying a brand new $500 TV, and I don't have that kind of money at the moment. Anyways I shouldn't have to pay even more in order to get my game to work right.tivadar27 wrote...

Oh, and 360 hardware revisions have nothing to do with whether or not the known bugs happen.

I am really surprised noone has mentioned the major Sebastian bug, where if you get the DLC in Act II (like I did), you go to the Chanter's board and get the scene, but then you can not activate the questline or even get Sebastian for the rest of the game. The words are there, but you can not activate the quest.
So enjoyed game enough to want to buy DLC during Act II, then can't use it at all. Sorry but I am a one playthrough person unless stats carry over (which I don't think they do). And I am not going back to an Act 1 save to get this... my time is limited.
This is a well known bug that is preventing paying customers from accessing the content in the first place. That should definitly be on their top list.
The bug is only for 360 and PC, and there is a (cheating) console workaround for PC.

Since this is an X-Box forum, I am assuming X-Box users are experiencing HELL with DA 2. I have had ZERO problems, in fact- it's been a great game...nearing my second completion, not one glitch. Actually some easter-eggs here and there. My console is the first-release Elite from what...some 3 years ago? Actually I think it's been 4, because weeks from the 3 year warranty for RROD, that's exactly what I got- and it turned out to be the DVD Drive.
I am assuming my unit is now ancient from the flashy 'new' black model? Could that be a factor?
How else can we explain one machine having no issues with a game- PERIOD? I have it installed on the hard disk drive.
For x-box users I am shocked, and if this had happened to me...damn- I'd have burned the disc and sent it back to EA. Just don't understand it. I think I might wait awhile before upgrading my 360!
I am in a similar position as you. I have played through the game fully once, and never saw any of the game breaking bugs that I have seen posted. I did notice the one broken quest, and merill's cutscenes being out of order when she is your LI. I have not played again, because I worry that I will run into one of the major bugs. Though I don't think console version is what made us lucky. I am using the elite MW2 360 with the 250gb HD. So, though our console versions are different we both got lucky.

* Will the fix apply to saves already affected by the bug?
I managed to finish Act 2 playing with 3 characters (since my mage is so slow the battle has ended by the time he manages to cast one spell), but it's unbearable, so the game is on hold until the patch is available. Hopefully I won't have to re-start the game after so many hours invested.

Oh God that would suck. I only got about halfway through Act 1 before stopping, so I could stand to start over, but I would much rather continue my game.xaviermf wrote...
Agreed, the companion bugs must be a priority, but like a couple of people asked before:

Thats not the point. The point is that the game should scale properly to whatever format its being played on. You know...like every other game on the planet.TAJ4Life wrote...

Exactly. I am plannimg on getting an HDTV, but it should be on my own terms, not because my new game refuses to scale (and flickers, and the framerate tanks during cutscenes).Purple People Eater wrote...

If you can afford a 300 dollar console, you can afford an HD display. At this point, complaining about SDTV problems would be like complaining that VHS tapes aren't released anymore.

Not until nobody supports SD displays, but they do, so it's a moot point. You also have absolutely no idea what my financial situation is, so don't tell me what I can and can't afford. The fact remains that I wasn't told that an HDTV would be required to play this game, and I am now unable to play it without the cutscenes stretching and flickering. I want to be able to play the game that I bought, and not have to wait another three or four months to save up the money. Not supporting SD (and not telling us in advance) puts those who buy the game in an unfair position of having to upgrade in order to play. All I ask is that the problem be patched so that I can continue to enjoy another awesome Bioware game.Cyano Khaar wrote...

It's an HD console. Not having an HD display to go with it would be like buying a car without a motor and then complaining that it doesn't work properly. Problems like this have been around since they came out. I couldn't read the text in Dead Rising on my old TV in 2006, and I have a friend who can't read the text in Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, and Dragon Age. So we went out and got HD displays and were happy as can be.
It's a worthwile investment to get one. People complained about this when ME2 came out and they didn't patch it. The 5 people in the world who still own an SDTV are just going to have to deal with it. They don't even make SDTV's anymore...
Look at it this way, 2 copies of dragon age II will get you a 19 inch HD monitor.

Not to beat a dead horse into the ground, but the xbox 360 is not an HD console. When you purchase the system, it only comes with standard definition cables as a means of hookup. If you want to take advantage of the HD part of the system, it requires an extra purchase. I remember having to go buy HDMI cables when I upgraded my television.
The system is sold as a standard definition console out of the box, so that part of your argument is sort of null and void. The game should support SD people.
That being said, an HDTV is worth the purchase if you can afford one. However, the game does not advertise itself as only compatible with HD monitors and Bioware needs to fix the issue. Dead Rising had forced the issue for me, which is unfortunate, since that game was utterly mediocre

Thats amazing that there is someone arguing that the game should not have SDTV support and it is the consumers fault for not owning a HDTV, especially when the people bought the game had no idea that was the case. And apparently the demo worked fine on SDTVs.

There's no reason to be stubborn and stick with old technology. Finances are no excuse when you own a 300 dollar console and buy 60 dollar games. That's just how I see it, sorry if it offends any of you.
