You don't need to launch DA2 again, you just need to have activated your "Online Pass" (which opened the Black Emporium for you) at some time in the past.Shadow of Light Dragon wrote...
Any chance the patch will be out before April 30?
Considering you need to launch DA2 to redeem that nice ME2 download Bioware has offered, that'd be swell.
After that, you can follow the instructions on http://bioware.social.com/ME2offer and start at Step 4, to get the ME2 code, then go to the EA Download Manager to get the game.
Don't need to be playing DA2 at all to do this.

That guy is a tool...the 30 and 60 are the same...the human eye cannont tell the difference and if you can your only thinking they look different...they are the same at least to the human eye:whistle:

"Just a quick note to say that any frame rate above 30 is impossible for the human eye to detect. So 40, 50, hell 120 is"
eye is a lot faster.
Actually, any frame rate above about 30 fps is too fast for the visual system to respond to. Audition can sense 100 nanosecond jitter, but the visual system simply doesn't perceive more than 25-30 frames per second. The neurone dynamics in the system smooth things on a 30-40 msec time scale.
Here is a nice visual comparison of 15 vs 30 vs 60 fps. 60 fps is much smoother than 30 fps, in my gaming experience too. www.boallen.com/fps-compare.html
First, why is this discussion in the patch update thread?
Anyway, this is sort of a loaded question. The human eye can't detect the changing of the frames themselves past something like 24 FPS; that is, you can't detect flickering as the frames are flipped. However, the eye can easily detect motion stuttering in games at 30 or 60 FPS because of the lack of motion blur. The eye can't detect the frames switching, but without motion blur the eye can easily see that there's a empty gap between a fast-moving object that went from one side of the screen to the other in a frame. Movies get away with lower frame rate because the film captures that blur when the shot is taken, so the frame in a movie would have a smear across the screen where the object went, and the eye would interpret that as motion. Without the blur, the eye sees an object teleport from point A to point B. But the higher the frame rate in games, the less the object moves in between frames, so the teleport effect gets less and less noticeable. Conversely, the faster objects move in games, the higher the frame rate needs to be to convey smooth motion.

Back on topic. All the wait for my game to be playable will probably make me less likely to preorder or even buy next Bioware title early. (Save MS3, seems they can get pseudo-RPG shooter right). Good job Bioware, good job... [/sarcasm]
On the other hand it's not the worst in the industry. Some games are getting "expansions", "patches" and "enhanced editions" that make them finally playable years after launch >__>

Yes, a much smaller studio with less money putting out free content updates. That's just horrible. TW must have used a really poor engine..oh wait.
How many Bioware points is this patch going to cost? And, are they patching in fun?

Please try to keep the discussion on topic (I'm looking at you, framerate people <_<).
As for the patch, it's out of our hands now so it all depends how quickly the 1st partys certify it. That said, based on my experience with such processes, I would say while it's *possible* that you could see it this week, next week is much more likely (and I'm 95% sure it won't be over the weekend)
So it'll be coming over the weekend? :innocent:Luke Barrett wrote...

This is what I love about your posts. It gives an honest timeframe. If you miss it by 2 or 3 weeks, I wouldn't hold it against you (of course I would be dissapointed but without your estimate I'd be even MORE dissappointed).Luke Barrett wrote...

Aren't you the "first party" for the PC patch? Isn't the PC patch supposedly not being held up by the console certification people?

Depends on exactly what you consider 'first party' I suppose. We (BioWare) have to send all 3 platforms through certification with EA and the console ones also have to pass Microsoft and Sony, respectively, as well (this happens simultaneously).
