So in other words, while the PC version has to go through less certifications, since the cert teams are all working in parallel, the PC patch won't necessarily be released any faster than the console versions if EA cert takes the longest.

Correct. Typically the PC one goes through much faster but it's not always the case. I'm actually checking every few hours to see if it's out yet just in case (though I suspect someone on BSN will know and post about it before me somehow )

I suppose I understand why EA wants to certify PC patches but I'll admit to being rather dubious as to the chances of them contributing much of anything to the process beyond "the game doesn't constantly crash to desktop with the patch installed." I mean, EA puts out a LOT of games. They can't possibly know what to look for beyond that. Sure, Bioware probably sends them a list of things to check but that's no substitute for knowing the game.

I miss the days where one dude eating cheetos and drinking Jolt would hotfix the game at 2:57 AM approximately 3 hours and 17 minutes after a serious bug was discovered. Sure, once in a while you'd get new problems. But the way it works now a lot of the core audience is either finished or mostly finished with the game by the time big issues are addressed. Having bugs fixed very quickly 95% of the time and making things worse 5% of the time is hugely better than having bugs fixes very slowly and only making things worse 1% of the time. Note: consoles are different and there are good reasons why the above doesn't apply.

Also, you kids get off my lawn.

luke, do you have any info on nvidia _finally_ releasing non-beta drivers that are not 3 months old? :)

Why does it matter if they're beta or not? Just download them and stop being an ass, they work fine.

Please try to keep the discussion on topic (I'm looking at you, framerate people <_<).

As for the patch, it's out of our hands now so it all depends how quickly the 1st partys certify it. That said, based on my experience with such processes, I would say while it's *possible* that you could see it this week, next week is much more likely (and I'm 95% sure it won't be over the weekend)

Any chance of seeing patch notes, if it's possibly that near to being released?

I just want to toss out a thanks to Mr Barrett. We can deal with bugs, crashes, texture problems, and balance issues. What we can't deal with is silence. Thanks for keeping us up to date! It makes more difference than you realize.

Yayyy... Thanks for the update. I'm dying for that patch. I refuse to push through Nightmare any further until some of the bugs with character health and Isabella/Sebastian cumulative friendship "bonuses" are fixed.

Luke said, in this very thread, that it is very likely to be ready by the end of the week (so, two days), or possibly some point next week.

Although he says he's checking "every few hours", so it could be any minute now, in theory.

Eh, sounded like it was the other way around to me.

It could possibly be released before the end of the week, but most likely it will be ready at some point next week.

Yeah, personally I'm not even going to try going that route until I'm playing through the game as a tank-spec Warrior. I figure that at least Bethany seems happy being a Circle Mage, despite the inherent risks in Kirkwall...

You do realise there are a lot of jobs at EA not just the corporate offices or marketing jobs right? EA has their own engineers that know what they are doing andthey know their own products well. Do you really believe nobody at EA plays the games they publish or understands the process of how it was produced?

I swear some people just believe EA is made up of corporate fat cats in suits with devil horns laughing evily around a huge boardroom table.

Well some of them are like that but not all
