Heh... it's been ages since I last played a game where patches would invalidate save files.
I do doubt that this patch will, although... like Nazo said, it's possible that certain issues will only be fixed if you start a completely fresh character.

Bad news for you, my friend, but you must have other issues. My GTX 570 runs game on highest settings just fine.
Make sure you have the latest beta driver
You must have got lucky. The issues are with DX11, not specific graphics cards. So any card supporting DX11 may have major problems when using the highest settings. I can run the game fine if not in DX11 (or in DX11 but not on the highest dislay settings). Thats what everyone is waiting for, the patch to fix DX11 settings. I've read 100s of forum messages saying the same thing, all with different graphics cards with the DX11 capability.
I hope this game is worth the wait.

everyone who plays on PC has a different setup, so some things that work for some people will not work for others, it's as simple as that.
Whining about it won't make a difference as there are too many factors that may serve as a hindrance performance-wise.

I'd say the same thing with my GTX570. Although, if the only way one is going to be happy is to have FRAPS show 60 FPS, one will spend a lot of time unhappy.

fantastic news about the ANIMATION system regarding character abilites being improperly applied to Hawke.
Thank you bioware for recognizing this issue, many people have it and cannot continue our games.

You may never get 60fps consistent in this game, regardless of drivers or patches. Expectations too high?

One more week and it will be almost one month since I stopped playing Dragon Age 2. It's a sad thing coz I didn't finish it... although I want to badly. Worst part of it is that I stood by my opinion that the game isn't "that" bad as many have claimed.
Now, I know that the patch is on it's way and it will be very "soon" but after all this time I'm starting to feel... cheated.
Dunno, I just felt that I need to write it.

I don't think 1.02 addresses very many performance issues. I think it's mostly bug fixes for storylines, quests, AI, etc. Most of the games performance issues seem to be due to crappy nvidia and ati drivers. Everytime a new beta driver comes out, the game has a huge performance leap
