And that's what you couldn't tell us yesterday? Or one week ago?

There has to be some sort of expectation or at least an educated guess as to how long the "certification" process usually takes. You also didn't tell us if PC users actually have to wait for Microsoft and/or Sony to certify your patch or if we get it as soon as EA has certfied it.

I am very disappointed and seriously considering not to buy the next BioWare game.

I can't think of a single valid reason why you can't release any patch notes before they are available to download. What other company does this?

because whenever something changes from what bioware says, this forum goes ape****.

This. Exactly this.

Can you imagine what would happen if, during the testing by EA/Microsoft/etc. a fix had to be removed because it screwed up something else? For every single person being happy about getting a patch there would be five peopel screaming bloody murder because "BioWare promised this fix and they LIED!!".

There's your April Fools' prank.  Any serious post by Chris is always signed with a ''.

Good fun!

I expect in a few weeks we will see this:

Patch 1.03 [PC/Mac only]
  • Reintroduced autoattack (inadvertently removed in 1.02 patch)
The two weeks of "WHAT IS THIS DIABLO @#$%^&?!?!?" posts will be legendary.

We can also say that the implementation of auto-attack on both Xbox 360 and PS3 is included.

April Fool's prank? What you think guys?

April Fool's prank would have been saying the above and then saying there would be a full toolset update included with the patch...   :crying:

Thanks for the update.  ;)

Good to hear that this is kicking along, even if specifics can't be shared.

I just hope "platform specific issues" includes the admin/guest account problem, because I would really like to be able to start a FIRST playthrough.

BioWare has prepared a patch for PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. We are currently testing the patch and are submitting it for certification with EA, Microsoft and Sony. Certification is where testing teams outside of BioWare confirm the fixes we make and ensure that no new issues are introduced. We continue to test the patch during the certification process to ensure quality. Once the patch has passed certification, it is then released to the public. We do not have a more exact ETA of when it will be available to you, but when we do know when it is available, we will let everyone know.

We cannot reveal to you the exact contents of the patch until it passes certification. We can say that there are more than 100 fixes including gameplay, quest and platform specific issues. We can also say that the implementation of auto-attack on both Xbox 360 and PS3 is included. When we can reveal the patch notes, we will let everyone know.

Thanks for the update! I look forward to a patch that fixes the existing bugs and is not riddled with new bugs. I mean that sincerely! So, take your time! :D

I sense something suspicious about this update, I don't think we are going to get a patch for another three or four weeks.

Thanks for the update Chris.
Sadly you just confirmed what the whole community was bragging on those forums - that the game had practically ZERO QA before it released and that it was released half baked. But trust me when i say that the next game Bioware releases will NOT have the same sales as the ones released in the past years. The damage has already been done.
Now the people will just wait for patch 1.02-1,03 to be released before buying it.
It is sad because i am one of the customers that actually like the game a lot as it is - i love the changes to the combat - love the story - like the characters and i did if it worked as it should it would have been 9/10 product without breaking any sweat. At it's current state - it is a Beta product all of us payed full price for.
I've checked this forum every single day several times for a patch and now you tell us "the patch will not come soon but it will be great". Thanks but as a customer i believe i'm being mislead into buying your product.

Good luck to all of the peeps. Going back to the old Bioware games :)....

Thanks for the update. It's going to be a rough wait as the storyline was really picking up steam when my bug occurred. I swear I sometimes wonder if I'm at the theater when I'm playing this game! Its that good.
But hey Bioware! Do your thing. You guys always impress me with your games and a little bump in the road wont stop me from buying!
I just wanted to say that because some of the people in this forum are so annoying with their threats, and philosophies on how game companies are supposed to handle their products. Ahh what can you do but just laugh.

Is this the post that Luke Barrett said was coming today, where he was going to press for as much information as possible? I certainly hope not. From Chris's post we got.

1. The patch is being worked on. (which we already knew)
2. The patch will be released sometime between tomorrow and the end of time. (which we already knew)

As such, how is this considered an 'update' at all?

Thanks Chris for the update.

Geez guys and gals, give the guy a break, he let you know they are patching 100 items in this patch and you complain. The last time they submitted a patch for testing it took around 1-2 weeks to get released and this should be the same unless they find an issue that requires more work. If he said it takes 1 week and this time it took longer everyone on here would go batSh@T crazy, so they don't release anything until it is hard data, totally understandable.

I just hope it comes out sooner rather than getting delayed and I can go back to playing it again.

The guy has done nothing wrong. Nobody is giving HIM hard time. It's his company's policy that bothers the majority of the people. And ye i don't enjoy whining in a forum about a game i actually enjoyed every minute of. I just expect to have my money's worth....:(

Hi Everyone

We know that people are waiting on more patching to fix issues they are having with Dragon Age II. We have said previously that we are working on patching for all 4 platforms (PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3), but we have not yet given any detail about what this patch will contain nor when it will be available. We greatly appreciate your patience as we work to fix issues with Dragon Age II and ensure that these fixes do not introduce new issues to the game. To help keep you updated on the status of the next patch (the first patch for PC and Mac Dragon Age II can be found HERE) we wanted to provide you with a more detailed message on the next Dragon Age II patch.

BioWare is dedicated to continuing to support Dragon Age II. We thank our community members who have helped our team fix issues by providing details and reports on the problems they are having. We appreciate your patience and your support.

Thanks for the update Chris, really nice :)

It's an update in the sense that now you are hopefully educated as to how the modern multi-platform software development process actually works, and thus should realize how futile your rage is.

If it's going through certification, then it's on what's pretty much the final step before release; as soon as Mircosoft/EA/Sony give them the thumbs up, out it goes.

How long is that? Depends. If Chris's "We are currently testing the patch and are submitting it for certification..." line means that is HAS been submitted (before today) then might be as early as next week. However, if it was just submitted today... I know from my times being a regular Dawn of War II player/poster back when it was part of GFWL that Microsoft certfication takes a whole week minimum (in fact, it might have accually been two) and that is if they don't find something that fails to pass and Bioware isn't willing to give up for next patch... though they would have never sent it out if they didn't think the critical, must-come-next-patch-or-the-fans-will-kill-us stuff had any chance of failing certification.

So, this tells me that there is an 20% chance we see something before Easter, a 35% chance we see it the week after, a 40% chance between then and the start of May.

I can't think of a single valid reason why you need to know what's included in the patch before it's release. There are plenty of other companies that do this. How long have you been playing games?

Edit: Thanks for the update!

I agree.  You couldn't tell us this one week ago?  Two?  How about three?  These are all numbers of increasing value.

You couldn't grab a flux capicitor on a lunch break and tell us this before the game was released, could you Chris Priestly?  If that's even your real name.  Honestly, at this point, I don't even know what to believe anymore.
