Is this the post that Luke Barrett said was coming today, where he was going to press for as much information as possible? I certainly hope not. From Chris's post we got.

1. The patch is being worked on. (which we already knew)
2. The patch will be released sometime between tomorrow and the end of time. (which we already knew)

As such, how is this considered an 'update' at all?

It's an update in the sense that now you are hopefully educated as to how the modern multi-platform software development process actually works, and thus should realize how futile your rage is.

Not sure how you got rage out of that post, as it didn't contain any name calling, caps lock, censored words, or !!!!!!1111!!!, but whatever.

And that's what you couldn't tell us yesterday? Or one week ago?

I agree.  You couldn't tell us this one week ago?  Two?  How about three?  These are all numbers of increasing value.

You couldn't grab a flux capicitor on a lunch break and tell us this before the game was released, could you Chris Priestly?  If that's even your real name.  Honestly, at this point, I don't even know what to believe anymore.

For someone who's acting so smart you certainly seem to lack in that department.

What I was saying was that there was absolutely no reason not to post such "news" earlier, with slightly adjusted content of course. They could easily have informed us on how the whole process works right when they started patching the game and then proceeded to update us on the progress.

Furthermore I have to tell you that when I said "you" in my post I wasn't adressing Chris Priestly directly, who obviously isn't the one responsible for this mess, but rather BioWare as a company.

My guess as to why they couldn't tell us yesterday is that they finished the patch and sent it in for certification today. They had a Friday deadline set for it, but didn't want to announce anything early in case they missed the deadline due to a discovery made during internal testing.

That makes sense. I'm glad to see this update and that it seems to be an in depth patch. And that the Console gamers will get their Auto Attack feature at last is good to hear. Can't wait for the Patch!

I understand that you can't give us patch notes, but could you tell us if you're fixed the "guest account" error for the PC version? Please?

Just a question, I wonder if this patch will only fix bugs or will it address some issues that many people didn't like about the game itself (aside from no autoattack in console). For example, I mean like allowing you to change the party's armor, or things like that.

If there was any chance of that happening at all, it would be DLC. $4.99.

I can fairly safely say that Dragon Age 2 patches are for bugfixes, not core mechanic changes.

That wont happen.

It's bad enough your companions can be danced like marionettes to your twisted blood magic, but you want to dress them too?  :o

Not everyone wants to wear the found dregs you come across in your adventures.  Bad enough they couldn't cut the cord completely and thus you still find "upgrades" for your companions in the most contrived places.

Thanks for the update. 100+ fixes makes me a little nervous though. I hope this patch will not introduce any new critical/gamebreaking issues. Hoping for the best.

A lot of us need this fix, from the poor response and adressing of multiple issues methinks we will be waiting for some time.
Don't hold your breath.:)

Thanks for the update, hearing anything that Bioware will let you talk about is a plus.

The fact that the team has been tight-lipped about this shouldn't surprise anybody, and shouldn't lead to so many posts questioning the update. Bioware has always kept things like this close to their chest, until they are 100% positive about what is happening and when.

It's nice to know that they're planning on fixing gameplay and quest issues, I'm sure we can make some pretty educated guesses as to what those are. So try to show a little appreciation, it's better than nothing at all, or worse information that isn't confirmed.

I can't think of a single valid reason why you can't release any patch notes before they are available to download. What other company does this?

I can't think of a single valid reason why you need to know what's included in the patch before it's release. There are plenty of other companies that do this. How long have you been playing games?

Edit: Thanks for the update!

Longer than you friend.

It's exactly nothing at all unless they fix the bugs that prevent thousands of us from even launching the game.

Figure it takes 40 hours of gameplay. 8 hours of play, 5 days of work, we'll hopefully see the patch by Wednesday, possibly Friday at the latest.

I'm glad that the patch is already being certified, but I'm disappointed the PC didn't get anything in the way of hotfixes for major gameplay issues like the cumulative friendship stat penalty earlier, given how much easier it should be to patch the PC version.

We're getting a clear message going forward Bioware intends to work on the job for all platforms simultaneously, so don't count on PC getting the same treatment we're used to sadly.

If you're on the PC you can press R, and you will automatically target the nearest enemy and begin auto attacking, that's the way it is now without a patch.

Hm I know that console updates need certification but PC patches only do when the games are under the "Games for Windows" moniker from MS. So why do you hold the PC patch back when it is basically ready?

Like Chris Priestly said, EA QA (quality assurance).

Seriously?  EA still has a QA team?  How do they manage to miss the gigantic bugs that they miss in every single release?!  I'm talking about things like the borked endings in DA:O, the instant +100 Love companion bug in Awakening, etc.  There's no way in hell that a QA team could miss these things.
