Game is still unplayable on very high. Bioware (not to mention the game is lame), you have screwed me over for the last time. No more pre-orders, no more positive word of mouth. You used to be a developer I could count on, but you sold yourselves to the EA corporate world.
I blame the consoles and their existence =p

Did you try updating your video card drivers?
I'm playing on my laptop on very high at 1920x1080 with hi-res texture pack, SSAO, Hi Quality Blur, 2 x AA, 16 x AF, and getting excellent frame rates, even though I have a second tier laptop video card (AMD HD 5830M). The only area where my frame rate drops a bit is in the exterior Bone Pit and Sundermount when there are lots of moving shadows of clouds.

Or maybe because they like to mess with us... only the guys at BW could tell us, and they ain't tellin' us anything until shortly before release.

Because they want to treat everyone equally by making the PC users wait longer. The console users will wait as long as they used to.

Yes. I have an AMD 965BE (Quad Core) @ 3.8. EVGA GTX 570 SC. WIN7 64BIT. 8GB Ram. Using new beta drivers that came out a week ago. At 1920x1080, Very High, High-Rex, SSAO, 16x AF, 2x AA (The Other Misc Settings as well) I get about 8FPS. No way in hell this brand new DX11 factory overclocked card should be getting 8FPS.

the 1.01 patch had very little depth; the changes were minor and to systems that would not affect users. The 1.02 patch, conversely, is quite large and has changes to very volatile areas of the code so we want to make sure it goes through all the hoops before its mass distributed.
The PC patch is not being held up by the console ones, they are all being certified independent of one another.

Given the fact that the first major patch for Origins (1.02a) introduced new, significant errors, I for one am glad that they're testing this. No sense in getting a patch this week if the patch itself needs patching a few weeks later.

But you cant tell us in a maxed line , when we can download it ? an estimate time ?

Thanks for clarifying. Can one assume that means someone in QA needs to actually playtest the game with the patch installed? Hence it's not a particularly swift process?

There is something seriously wrong, here. My AMD laptop card is a POS compared to your NVIDIA desktop card and I'm getting better frame rates at the same exact settings, including DX11 mode.
It would seem to be a bug; however, if not, could this perhaps have something to do with the hi-res textures loading from your hard drive? The only other difference I can think of is that my game and hi-res texture pack are installed on dual Intel SSDs in Raid0.

Alright, that's understandable, but just know that we are all anxiously awaiting the patch notes.

Meaning they won't all come out at the same time, but when each one is independently certified.
Right?

Correct. (technically they still could, but it would be a coincidence

I'm sure most folk interpret things such that the expectation is that the PC and Mac patches will arrive soonest due to the least hoops to jump through, but you never know. The shoe could be thrust squarely on the other foot.Luke Barrett wrote...

Just imagine the shenanigans that would ensue if the PS3 patch released first and well-received—with much jubilation even—and the PC, X360, and Mac patches got lost in QA/certification hell over the most minor of little issues.
That's what I do. I imagine these shenanigans. And they are spectacular.

I haven't bought the Exiled Prince DLC yet (no point given that the companion bonus is so bugged that I wouldn't be able to use that companion!), and if I've moved on to other games before the main game is patched, the likelihood is that I won't come back to it and pay for more content, or if I do it will be in a year or two's time when there's a package including all the DLC on offer cheap on Steam or in the "budget bucket" in my local Game shop.
I'm very forgiving about bugs in new releases, but I also worry that by the time we get a patch I will be busy with other games so any future DLC that is released will pass me by, simply because I've moved on to other things. That happened a bit anyway with the last few DLC releases for DAO and ME2 tbh (whereas I would be excited enough about a large expansion pack to buy it and start playing the game again - I played Awakening for example - but expansions don't seem to happen these days), it just looks as if I may be abandoning this game sooner than usual if it takes much longer to fix it, so less DLC revenue from me.
Which is a shame, because I actually think it's a great game and I haven't had any performance issues - it's just the companion related bugs and quest bugs have killed it for me for the time being.

I've been playing mostly old games and flash games with little story to them since I put DA2 aside to wait for the patch. I've felt tempted to pick The Witcher back up, but I just don't want to get into any big stories until I'm done with DA2. ^^
Started reading books again to get my stories, instead. Was about a fourth of the way through Terry Pratchett's "Pyramids" when I stopped reading it a year ago, and suddenly I've picked it back up and I'm almost all the way through it.

I understand that completely, but I'm not going to hold off playing other things just to keep the DA urge alive - TW2 is out in just over a month, and it's not even just new games that are calling to me, with Skyrim out later this year and a relatively new PC and a brand new high definition widescreen tv I'm also keen to replay the TES series complete with graphic enhancers that my old PC couldn't handle before the next installment comes out, so DA2 (despite being a good and enjoyable game) is in a bit of a race against time to become playable while I'm still interested in it (and still interested in buying DLC!)
Because my old PC blew up and I lost all my save games, I've been replaying Origins and Awakening to fill the gap whilst waiting for a patch and provide me with save game data to import, but I'm just about to go into the final battle in Awakening (all been played since I finished my first buggy DA2 playthrough), and when I'm done with that I'll be playing The Witcher to make sure I have a save game to import to TW2 and then that will be my priority and Bioware will have missed a prime opportunity to get me to spend money on The Exiled Prince.

I hope this will fix companion quests bugs and romance related bugs, especially Anders's rivalmance.
What's Anders's rivalmance bug?
