Nah she wouldn't have. Purely because of the Idol, it was always going to end in tears. I supported her and the fact she is right a lot of the time made me consider the same thing, but taking into account her whole character arc it just wouldn't work. I found her quite tragic really, as you slowly find out about her sister and that she is partly being slandered and misunderstood. Then the final reveal shows how perverted she has become thanks to that stupid lyrium idol.
Personally I think Cullen would have made a great potential companion, they did a good job with his character in DA2. It was still recognisably Cullen, but clearly one who had grown and evolved over time. He also represented the non-crazy Templar ideal very well. Harsh to Mages but because they honestly believe it's neccesary, and not taking it over the line to mass murder (funny, considering his role in Origins).
Oh and Meredith was very attractive I thought, regardless of her age.
Meredith would've made a good party member

I'm guessing in this scenario she loses her ability to fly around and animate scenery? Too bad, but I guess it would put Hawke to shame.
I did really like when I first met her as a warrior, despite what people tell you before then (which I agreed with until I met her). Sure she was a hardass even then, but hardly main antagonist material. Would've been cool if there were an act between 2 and 3 where she was a companion (as the character she was in act 2, not changed as in the OP), so you could get to know her a bit better before she goes mad. A more personal reason the side with the templars would've been good, too. Even when Carver joined them on my second character I didn't sympathise with them any more than I did first time around, he still seemed pretty pro mage to me. I didn't meet many relatable characters who were not just pro templar but pro mage surpression, but it could've been her were things different.

I would have like Samson if he could have been redeemed earlier.

If Meredith were to join the party I think she would be automatically killed by Anders lol.

Or bring her to darktown and hear Anders talk about that secret exit they used to help apostates escape.

I think it'd be Anders who would die instead.
Anders: And this is the exit we helped smuggle mages out of Kirkwall. It has helped saved thousands of mages' lives. By the way Knight Commander Meredith is a ****** and I can't wait to bring down the Justice Solution on the templars.
Varric: Err.Blondie. It may not be wise to say that in front of the Knight Commander.
Hawke: Don't be ridiculous. She's in my party. She can't activate an ability without my say so. She can't do any....
*vibration sound*
Meredith: Maker, guide my hand.....

I would ditch Isabella and Merrill without a second thought if it meant we got to have Meredith as a companion and LI.
Hopefully someone comes across her and revives her from her current state, so she becomes a companion in DA3.

Frankly, I preffered her as the final boss. She was completely amazing in her role.
Second of all, she doesn't need to be made any younger to be attractive. She could couger the pants off any dude any day.

Meredith was quite wasted if you ask me. We don't see her till the end of Act 2. Really now, Bioware should have gotten rid of Fenris and put her in the party instead and make her 20 years younger i might add. Then make her the straight love interest, I'd make a male Hawke just for that.
