Need a litlle help to understand the tactics. I'm basing myself on the first post and the tactics for Anders, Merril and Varric.

From the wiki...

Brittle is part of the cross-class combos system in Dragon Age II. It can only be inflicted by a mage.
and
Disorient is part of the cross-class combos system in Dragon Age II. It can only be inflicted by a Rogue.

1) From your setup, the only situation to have an ennemy in brittle status is when a mage use petrify onto a Elite or higher ennemy. That mean normal ennemy cannot be britlle, correct ?

2) From you setup, the only situation to have an ennemy in disorient status is having Varric use his fatiguing fog, So, can you explain what this tactic means...

Hawke : Any - Fatiguing fog  => The fatiguing fog is not suppose to be put on ennemy ?

Thanks a lot for your hard works !

*******  Edit   ***********

I think I found another way for disorient. While Hawke is obscured (from Varric's chameleon breath), Hawke disorienting critical will be in function and will cause disorient.
Am I right ?

1) Yes, the tactics mean that normal enemies are not targeted with petrify.

In this case, petrify is primarily a crowd-controlling spell. That is, it stops enemies from running off and sinking their daggers into you. Since it is a single target spell, it's best to save it for the enemies that need it, such as bosses and elite enemies like assassins, rage demons, desire demons, etc.

As you mentioned, it also has a brittling component which can allow more damage to be dealt via a CCC. In this case, it allows Hawke to perform an assassinate CCC (or take advantage of the extra +50% critical damage associated with Brittle).

2) Yes, the primary disorienting in this setup is done by hawke. Varric is setup to keep hawke permanently obscured to maintain bonus damage and disorient setups.

hi, i know it's been a long time since i last posted and i also know that this topic is very old, but i got a question for arelex or anyone with answer to it.

i've been testing and playing this build and i tried to inverse the attribute distribution that arelex gave. In short term, i simply pumped all into dex and put the leftovers point into cun, and i actually founded that my auto-attack did more damage than they did when i pumped dex to reach 100% critical chance and then put the leftovers point into cunning.

so my questions is simple : why is that ? why do i do more damage by pumping dex all the way to 100 instead of pumping cunning.

btw when i'm saying "pumping cunning" take into account that i pumped dex to reach 100% crit chance and THEN pumped cunning up to max.

and if pumping dex gave me more auto-attack damage, is it possible that it would bring me more spike damage if i pumped dex up to 100 points or not.

last question : is this build, wouldn't be better with all point into dexterity and THEN pumping cunning.

thanks in advance for you answer.

It looks like the link to Varric's build progression is incorrect. It merely redirects back to this topic. Anyone still have the link, or at least a rough idea of the ability progression involved?

The one in this guide should do.
