Ok, I have been through the game twice and I STILL need this achievement. I even got to the point where Merill kicked me out of her house. ( I was going Templar.) Any advice on how to achieve this or is it just a glital tch? I got the friend acheivement but their buffs rarely show in my abilites menu, even when they are in my party. Any advice is welcome.
Thanks
p.s. Yes I have even tried being a total dick to them.

*shrug* I got it with Carver in act 1. If you got someone 100% rivalry and it still doesn't unlock, it sounds like a glitch.
I don't know whether the Sebastian exploit still exists, but that is an easy (if a bit tedious) way to get it.

I found it easier to anger Anders. I pushed him into full rivalry when I ratted him out to Cullen. I don't think its glitched but it takes a lot of effort to get the bar to 100% rivalry. If your trying with Merrill did you bring her along on the forbidden knowledge quest? She gains 10 rivalry for every book you destroy, also taking her on the fade quest with Anders nets a good amount of rivalry...both before and after.

Its quite easy to get merril rivalry in act 2. Destroy all the books, at any point mention that blood magic and demons are bad, and refuse to give her the arulin'holm. Taking companions into the fade for night terrors and then yelling at them when they betray you is also great (or forgiving them is also great for friendship)
