Am I the only one who truly enjoyed Dragon Age 2? I'm okay with having some complaints but the hate on this game is just crazy. Dragon Age: Origins was an amazing game that pulled me in so much so I had to buy the books to become even more involved and while Dragon Age 2 might not be that, it surely isn't worth all this hate. My initial playthrough was filled with exciting moments, like in Act 2 when you're trying to maintain peace with the Qunari only to watch Sister Petrice get an arrow to the head in the chantry which clearly stated 'it is on!', defeating the almighty arishok and becoming champion, getting betrayed by Anders and having to take 5-10 mins trying to decide what I should do with his dumb self and when I finally decided to kill him, he slaps me in the face with his "I'm a martyr and mages will love me for this" babble. Dragon Age 2 had some pretty huge emotional moments in it and I don't know if its people's expectations of what the game was to be gets in the way or if everyone is just making big deals out of stupid stuff but even with it's faults I am pleased with my $60 purchase.

I don't hate this game. I think it has a lot of improvements in parts. I think it's just hard for me to figure what light to compare it in. So I'm kind of stuck just looking at DA2 on it's own. It could have been more like the Original but it's not terrible either. I see a bit of influence from ME2 though. I do miss things like being able to stop and truly talk to the companions. That would have required a lot more voice work, animation and so on though.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a few things that irked me, but over all I think it's a great game. I like it just as much as Origins, although if I reach for my rose-tinted specs I might change my mind.

Both had fantastic aspects and poorer aspects. It always comes down to personal taste.

Only die hard Baldurs Gate PC fanboys who whants that game released over and over and over again until the end of time really hate DA2, the rest of us can overlook the flaws and enjoy the game :P

I enjoyed it myself. Just too many folks try to look to deeply in whats stated and said and try to be philosophers and know it alls.

I enjoyed it too. I played as a female mage and was impressed by the animations and that the mage also uses the staff as a club up close. I also liked how some ME style was worked into the game (ie for conversation choices, and your character speaking).

As has been mentioned in other threads, there could have been more NPC's to interact with and such, but overall it was a fun game. Since I just finished my first playthrough I will definitely play agin, perhaps a DW Rogue. After playing ME2: Arrival, of course.

Thanks Bioware. Even your "could have been better" games are better than most. For $60 I really feel I got some bang for my buck, which can't be said for many games of the same price.

I played DA:O, loved it. Got DA2, love it too. I loved the interplay conversations between the characters, would have liked to hear more, but that's what 2nd or 3rd playthroughs are for... taking different sidekicks to get their comments.
If you can't enjoy a game, minor glitches are just part of the game in my oppinion.

I don't hate the game, if it was a standalone game I would've probably liked it more (even with it's huge amount of issues).

But it's the sequel to probably my favorite game of all time, and when compared to Origins this game kind of sucks and is a huge dissapointment. The Majority of things I enjoyed in the game were due to Origins (The only replay value for me was seeing how my different Warden made a impact on DA2).

So not a bad game, probably a 6.5/10 while Origins was a 10/10 for me.

My main issue is that it's not a sequel in the traditional sense. It's a different game experience. DA2 should have been a continuation of the DA:O story. This is different which is fine but not what I was expecting. They way DA:O ended and the way they played up the saved game I was setup to expect a similar experience. I found it like the talkative man says, easier and dumbed down which is fine but not for DA2. At least its not a dumbed down as ME2.

The story I still enjoyed though and finishing it just for the story.

I think it's a solid game but I'm fairly disappointed by some of Bioware's decisions in making it. My biggest gripes are with the plot railroading and blatant copy-pasting of environments.

Yes. You are the only person in the entire world that liked this game. :P

Other than me, of course. All bugs aside.

I loved it. Are there areas of improvement? Of course I think so, but we all have our own ideas of how things should go. Doesn't stop it from being addictive enough for multiple playthroughs.

Could have been better. Could have been better than the first game.

Ended up slightly less than the original.

Don't hate it. I have plenty of games that are just alright. I just expected more from the title. Which explains why I literally raged for a like a week and a half after beating it. Now? I'm just as likely to poke fun at it as I am to post meaningful posts about it.

I had constant up and downs while playing DA2. Which makes it hard to like it. I like how Bioware handles companions, no other RPG is doing that. They are included in the story  more like real people and not just a bunch of numbers. For example they comment in discussions or you can even let them take over. And you even get different results in some situations if you have certain companions with you. I think that's the best part of DA2 that even outshines DA:O even if imo Morrigan is hard to beat. Anyway, there are just to many things I needed to facepalm about in the game, so the 'awesome' feeling did mostly not last long.

Overall, I enjoyed it and am still enjoying it. That doesn't mean I am incapable of recognizing that it has some significant differences from the first game, which over all I would have to say I enjoyed more. A fact which in itself doesn't make this a worse game, but one I would have liked to have seen different, more, or other things from in certain areas.

I don't hate it. On the whole, it's still an above average game that I enjoyed playing, and there were some genuine improvements made.

It's just that there were a greater number I things that I felt were flawed or worse than whatever from Origins they replaced. It's very "one step forward, two steps back".

The staves make me long for the DAO weapon selection (where weapon types weren't as distinct between classes...rogues could use swords, warriors could dual-wield, etc.) and for a spear specialization for warriors....

It was a good game, but I don't think its an award-winning game, and I think it fails to go beyond the first one in some critical ways. I hope ME3 doesn't end up like this... very stripped down.

At first I really liked the game (but not as good as Origins). Then I was puzzled over the negative response. Then I looked at each part independently, and it wasn't so great. DA ][ is definitely enjoyable, but the way this game could have been better just keep staring me in the face.

Just sayin, I loved this game. I've finished 3 playthroughs, I have a 3rd mage character just an hour or so before we start the main conflict at the end of act 3, and I'm doign a 2nd Rogue character that is a little into Act 2 while being lv 25 already (I love that leveling glitch)
Unfortunately, there are alot of improvable areas, and I'm STILL waiting on my DLC unlocks in-game(Even after being upgraded to tier 3 three times), but on the whole it's a very good game.

Initially I enjoyed the game even with all of its shortcomings.

However, I just started playing Origins after about a year of not doing so and..hotdamn..I thought the people that were raging in this forum were unjustified but they totally are. In just doing the mage origin I got to talk to a bunch of different people (Niall, Owain, Cullen, the templar at the door, Jowan) and get a bunch of different opinions and information. Not to mention that I laughed out loud (A LOT) for example, getting to call Jowans lady a fat cow and having him be like "Wtf?! She's standing right here!" Hehehe. Good stuff.

In DA2 any interaction you have is so limited, even with your companions. So Kirkwall winds up being a city of faceless people that I don't really care about. Not to mention that to even know most lore (even important lore) you have to read codex entries, it would have been much more interesting to visit Merrill and talk about the "Enigma of Kirkwall" otherwise that potentially juicy and story-altering info falls kind of flat. Now I'm not being like "f*** reading lolz" but some of that stuff really should have been incorporated into the story.

So while DA2 entertained me through one play through, thats about it. I found the tension and rivalries in the Fereldan circle of magii to be far more interesting than anything that happened in Kirkwall (even Anders and his big kaboom was so obvious).

Wow...didn't mean to rant..sorrry! But anyway final verdict is, I'm sad because for me it is an okay game that had the potential to be an epic game.
