I read this whole article about the train wreck the devleopment of this game was with the developers blowing through money,  people quitting, Boussard saying when it's done it's done, I think that this might have had a big impact on other video gamer publishers. Lets face it, if video games need schedules and release dates spending a little over a decade to make a game is never a good idea.  I never followed Duke Nukem Forever that closesly so a lot of the stuff in this article is pretty new to me, but it sounds like Boussard didn't know what he was doing and didn't know when to lock down the game core.
