I just bought a digital copy of DAO ultimate and am trying to play as a human noble (I tried warrior and rogue but same glitch), but for some reason my character wakes up after talking with the brother but the dog just stares at the door and then nothing. The game does not crash but nothing happens. I am running off these specs.
Windows 7 64 bits (running the game as admin)
4GB of Ram
i5 m480 @ 2.67 GHZ
NVidia GeForce GTX 590 (I will try installing latest drivers and see if that works) but it seems to be a gameplay glitch not a graphics problem.
If anyone can help that would be awesome!

It's not an error I've heard of before. At first blush, assuming it's not a hardware or Windows glitch, I would have to say something game-wise got corrupted (hence the question about mods).
Does Direct2Drive have some sort of file verification function, like Steam does? Where it checks to make sure your download arrived intact?
Normally I would suggest reinstalling the game... but I hesitate to do so given the size of Ultimate Edition.
Before doing that, let's examine a few things. What graphics settings are you playing with? And when you boot the computer, how big is the Windows Pagefile (reboot, go to start menu, in the search bar type "dxdiag" and launch the Direct X Diagnostic Utility... pagefile will be listed on the first tab, something like XXXX used, XXXXX available).

I seemed to have fixed it. It was an Nvidia setting. I can't really remember exactly what I did but I downloaded a 3D manager from Nvidia and it changed some of the settings for the game specifically and I changed a video settings from the launcher menu. I guess all I can advise someone else is to get the latest drivers and mess with your video card settings.

You can try doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of your video display driver in "safe" mode... that will eliminate, once and for all, the driver being a factor in this. There's a how-to guide linked below in my sig. Beyond that, I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
If that does not help, you should register your copy of the game and use official help, located at help.ea.com.
