So even when they are *fixing* things, people *still* complain? Is it me or should we sent these bastards to Lybia and show them how good they got it.

Me neither. And I still remember the times when Ascaron was called Ascon and their patching service....easier times.

I don't think we need to thank them ... honestly it's about time. I just say we encourage them to support and keep doing so. This is a good first step.

This is quite a buggy release from any perspective ... just because some games need extensive patching too doesn't excuse anything. Those kind of arguments just make it all seem worse to me. Why not learn from past mistakes of one's own and others?

People ALWAYS complain. Some do it just to complain.

People complain when they feel like something is worth complaining about. Sometimes people complain about people complaining.

What absolutely obvlivious cheerleaders in this thread to say that theyve never encountered a game that had less than 100 bugs at release. I'm not sure whats worse, that you're seriously that delusional to think that, or that you beieve others wil believe the crap you're spewing at all.

BBBBBBUT NEW VEGAS HAD BUGS SO THATS ALL GAMES!!!!111 RIGHT????!?!?!

No. New Vegas and garbage JoWood games are not all games. Just stop. You're embarrassing yourselves.

The only two bugs I experienced in DA2 were Isabela's Thumbs Up and only one time, in one playthrough, a dialogue sequence with the Arishok repeated as soon as it ended. My experience with DA2 has been almost entirely bug-free. Yes, they're patching over 100 bugs. Some are probably cross-platform, some are exclusive to a certain platform, and some may be bugs identified in QA but largely unnoticed by the player base. Some may even be so small most people wouldn't consider them bugs.

Stop whining like a 4 year old whose had his favorite toy taken away.

You mean, 100 things that need fixing?    Yes.  I've never played a PC game that didn't.

I have never seen a single patch address 100 bugs. As for things that need fixin' that could include bugs, balance concerns, UI updates, groundwork for future expansions, additional content,...now I have seen single patches like that.(Never for a single player game though)

What kind of crap games have you been playing? Tell me and point me to their patchnotes.

did ME2 have a patch that fixed over 100 things? NO...anyone who says all games have this many bugs at release is either a liar or a DA II sycophant...The quality of DA release has been ****** poor since Awakening...but oh we should just thank the DA II team for their magnanimous gesture...

Geez, the negativity, cheer up! (Every pun intended)

You know, it depends on your definition of bugs.

Is the occasional clipping in DAO a bug? Some say yes, some say no.

But it's not just Jowood. Look at Morrowind. (Much as I adore it. But unpatched Morrowind is unplayable, Betheseda even warns against playing it without patching it first) Let's look at big franchises. Look at The Sims. Or the classics? Look at Gabriel Knight III. Or Might and Magic 7+8+9. I can find 100 bugs in DAO...easily. I can also find them in the BG series. I just don't care because Mods and patches got rid of most of them.

You're either lying or too stupid to realize how many bugs you were actually hit with.  Look at the tech help sections for the different platforms.  Most issues are cross platform.  The player base noticed way more than 100.

I'm sure Bioware/EA appreciates your blind cheerleading for them though.  Maybe they'll send you a TShirt for your trouble.

Good points here. I guess all of these things are often lumped together in the word "bug".

But if you'd like an example, try "The Guild II" by Jowood. It's famous for its dozens of game breaking crawlers.

I've never seen a game that -needed- 100 fixes before. I've seen games that had that many, but I think even Dragon Age 2 when you get down to it, likely only has a few dozen major fixes in the patch, with a whole lot more minor problems.

That said, I've seen lots of games that were far, far more polished and finished then Dragon Age 2. Every Blizzard game ever released, for example, has been heavily patched but shipped with pretty much all features in working order, unlike DA2 where there are things just missing.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait. People are complaining about a relatively quick patch with a huge number of fixes?

That's a completely different discussion.  Whether those bugs exist at release and whether a company decides to fix those bugs all at once   are 2 very different things.

The question was regards to the former.

I have.

Baldurs gate 2.

Neverwinter nights 2

Temple of elemental evil

Dragon age Origins

Planescape Torment.

In fact, that first one there... BG2,  had about 300 known bugs of varying significance out of the box.  After ALL of Biowares patches, the G3 fix pack  (a fan base mod)   came out and fixed about 100 more.

Again, people,  the fact that Bioware decided not to do 100 fixes with ME2  (DA:O and Awakening certainly had,  and STILL have, about 100+ bugs too) does not mean those bugs don't exist.

I once had a professor who would rant about how the software industry is allowed to release products filled with bugs, but the any such offender in the hardware industry would be crucified. Intel lost $500 million in 1994 because of relatively benign fault, for instance. Software developers are allowed this slack in the first place primarily because software can be easily patched after the product is released.

It is a large foundation of the corporate software model. To complain about this particular instance is ridiculous.

Edit: Also, 100 "bugs" across four platforms for a game developed on an in-house engine (e.g. Unreal's ubiquitousness is great for code validation) is nothing.

Yeah played it. I have the 1.3 patch notes, not really massive and nowhere near 100 bugs listed.  It is more of a mix of performance, balance, and bugs.

Honestly I don't want to go off to much speculation because those 100 bugs might individual errors that combine into problems gamers have been experiencing. I do think the patch notes will be an enlightening read though.

as long as the cursed infinite loops during both conversations and loading screens finally kick the curb I shall be very happy!

I want a fix to these things so much....
