It's known that VGChartz isn't completely credible, for 2 reasons. Firstly, they base their sales predictions on a small portion of the market, not actually count what was sold at every store. And secondly, they never reveal their sources.

maybe the new future dlc and add-ons could actually bring sales of da2 closer to that of origins. stranger things have happened i'm sure lol. i actually liked my 1st playthrough of da2. but when i try to do a 2nd it's like meh!

Yes, but -to some extent- they knew.
That's why they tried -and managed!- to secure preorders. 
(and sure enough, after being, erm, "surprised" by the early positive reviews, they thought they could even score big: at least word of mouth prevented that)

Of course, next time won't be so easy for them to pull it off.

With free ME2 promotion DA2 sales might see day light once again.... not sure how much sunny it will be but it will be there till 30th april...

I think EA/Bioware have come up with a very tactical move here, most fans/haters or gamers are not seeing the strategic manifold benefits EA will be getting it from this smooth move

If the 1 million number is right then it is cumulative from  PC, 360, and PS3.
The sales goals of Bioware after EA's buyout has been discussed in serveral interviews and 1million sales across 3 platforms is not going reach the goal EA wants.

The early reviews that I read were pretty much spot on: a pretty damn good game with slight flaws because of recycled environments and a much less grander scope than Origins.

Really? You have all that official insight? Can you get me a job at Bioware please?

Well, they are saying it officially, so we cant write off this claim so easily unless someone has audited sales records of DA2 title from EA/Bioware which is very unlikely to happen.
And to push the sales further and keep going they have come out with a smart move of giving AAA title which was also a goty by many free to download till 30th April ie ME2.

This means they are making sure that sales do not die before two months of the release.
