Assuming the Reapers have a sort of 'hive mind' like the Geth - appealing to one Reaper can potentially cease their assault. Shepard excels at converting people and gaining loyalty. This is, honestly, the only way I see this working out. Uniting the races will definitely help, but it's limited by their fleets against the actual reapers.
*throws in deus ex machinas to solve the great dilemma of the Reaper invasion*

Considering each Reaper is a "sovereign nation" unto itself I don't think that is the case.

These Great Old Ones, were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die...
And it got me thinking, mass effect cores consist of electrified dark matter and contrary to popular belief dark matter isn't opposed to matter instead it is opposed to dark energy.
So is the dark energy buildup in stars a natural threat to the reapers and is it possible to make dark energy weapons that are devastating to them (of cause they would also be devastating to anything else using a mass effect core)..something to ponder at least.

It's not opposed to it at all. They're two completely different phenomena. The "dark" in both simply means that we can't directly detect either, and must infer their existence. Dark matter is just matter made of presently unknown particles that either don't interact with normal matter (other than gravitationally) or do so very, very rarely. Dark energy is just another form of energy, the properties of which aren't well-understood.
As far as eezo being dark matter....no. It interacts with the EM force. It's definitely exotic matter, but not "dark" in the usual sense of the term (there is another sense of "dark matter" which roughly means "stuff we could detect by standard means but can't for other, relatively mundane reasons")

In the farthest reaches of space, a volatile battle is taking place between two forces so great, they may eventually destroy the very universe itself. Known as Dark Matter and Dark Energy, these opposing forces have the capacity to rip apart the universe atom-by-atom.
While scientists have previously theorised about a “Big Crunch” where the universe retracts back to its original size, the discovery of Dark Matter and Dark Energy has placed that hypothesis on the backburner. Some astronomers now believe that if Dark Matter offsets Dark Energy then as the universe slowly expands, stars will gradually fade, running out of fuel and leading to a dark, cold and lifeless universe.
Others hypothesise a much more violent end where Dark Energy continues to expand the universe at a greater and greater speed. Stronger than gravity, Dark Energy would pull apart everything down to the fundamental particles – the universe’s very fibres. While the universe’s end may be 50 billion years away, great leaps in science will continue to alter how we believe the universe was formed – and how it will end.

I remembered wrong it's not dark matter but dark energy utilized in mass effect cores. Here

The more I think about it the clearer it is to me that Saren knew this too and that this is why he decided to collaborate. In the end, we may have to do the same to ensure that the legacy of our species continues on, even if it is in the form of a Reaper.

We can certainly hope but as Mass Effect fan I'll be pretty pissed off if deus ex machina is what wins the game.

If they do have quantum entaglement between all relays and they just leave before the shockwave gets them its game over, but yes i don't want them to retcon or just make up something out of thin air because they've written us into a corner either.

On another note, it has also been said that there will be multiple endings so you might get the virus option or the big fleet option. And it can end badly so I'm really hoping for a Reapers destroy the universe ending.
