Again, you are making the reapers immune to everything.

Well you can blame Bioware for that. I'm not the one who created these antagonists or defined their abilities. Nor did I write the laws of physics.

No, I blame you for that. The codex doesn't say anything about what you have told me in you responses to my comments. You say it's completely impossible to cut off their communications, and you say it's completely impossible to distract them by any means. Not Bioware.

There are possibilities. You are acting like the guy with the invisible dragon in his garage. Making up  additional, special excuses as for why nobody can see it or detect it in any way, and using them to dismiss every possibility, because you made up your mind before opening this thread.

Reapers don't grow on trees. If the galactic communities band together, they can fight, and they can push. Battle after battle, they can whittle down the Reapers' numbers until the Reapers either die out completely or are forced to abandon their attempts at conquest. Realistically, such a war would take forever and a decade, but it wouldn't be the first drawn-out, galaxy-wide war with a massively overwhelming enemy force, now, would it? Just the first one where the enemy force happens to be made of starships, instead of just driving them.

Here's a fun possibility: what if Shepard has the option to destroy the Reapers by vaporizing the Earth? Wouldn't that be a hilarious ending to the series?

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Hold on a minute there, missy! I never said any such thing. I asked you how you planned to do that. It's easy to say you will cut their communications or distract them but it is another thing to do it. I need some kind of viable method. Even just a theory.

What have you got in mind?

Ah, so you admit it's not impossible, after all, to defeat the reapers. Well, I'm glad I got you de-indoctrinated, but I'm going to stop spoon-feeding you. Maybe now you will be able to come up with a positive, constructive idea that helps our cause. Time for you to stop whining in the bench and get in the field :)

However, if you feel like you're not able to do so, I'll help you.

Nothing is impossible, just improbable. The title of my thread was meant to be attention grabbing.

Oh, you make me laugh. You haven't spoon fed me a goddamn thing. I wish you would, because then I'd have something to chew on.

Now answer my damned questions.

If it's improbable and not impossible, then why does the description in your signature indicate it is impossible? False advertising to lure people into a thread where you will dimiss all opposing claims to your own viewpoints is both childish and rude.

You expected anything less from Saphra?

Topic: I'll defeat the Reapers because I can. Booya.

The description in my signature is vague. It never once mentions impossible or even improbable. Those things are implied, but so far they are also true. As of yet nobody has presented a plausible way to defeat the Reapers other than myself.

I already proposed slapping mini mass relay's(like the one in the CItadel) onto ships to use as rail guns.   Take time to learn how they work or even replicate the speed they shoot things at.  You hit a reaper with a FTL projectile they are going down.  The Reaper has no chance of moving out the way if you shoot a Mako sized object at its broad side.  The can run nurmours similations.  One tries to FTL out and shoot an odject right up its tail pipe.

I think it's obviously time for a twenty-page discussion on the definition of the word "can't." Who is with me?

Okay, I went ahead and wrote down how we probably will defeat the Reapers last night, linked in my sig for conveniences sake. And no, I didn't just pull anything not already in-universe out of my ass, just some certainties we already have storywise.

How exactly are we gaining a strategic advantage here? How are we trapping the Reapers? Sovereign flew right through a turian cruiser without even getting a scratch, remember?

Hmm, the nebula surrounding the relay is dangerous as I recall. So I suppose it may work. If we were able to gain control of the relays in the area and shut them off... or even blow them up. The Reapers wouldn't be able to flee out of the nebula very easily.

Though it's going to be hard to convince the Council to sacrifice its capital like that. The Citadel is the most important location in the galaxy.

I'm interested.

We can defeat the reapers because Bioware isn't stupid enough to make an unwinnable game.

The more I think about it the clearer it is to me that Saren knew this too and that this is why he decided to collaborate. In the end, we may have to do the same to ensure that the legacy of our species continues on, even if it is in the form of a Reaper.

See I love this idea, it would really show just how strong your paragon shep is, would he choose our race be erased from existance, or would he accept that you must do what it takes to survive, even if that means joining the ranks of the enemy. A paragon would choose death, and not want to strengthen the reapers, renegade would choose survival, but this would actually put them in a grey light, neither is right or wrong.

Also it has potential, you could play a future game where you control some indoctrinated character who must help get the galaxy ready for the next harvest.

How is it stupid ?
RDR had an ending where you loose, it was amazing, it wouldnt be nearly as memorable otherwise.

I think the idea is that Bioware wouldn't create a game where the only possible outcome is to lose.

Exactly. Unfortunately we just may have to accept that the only destiny availabile to our species is extinction or joining the ranks of Reapers. I for one will not choose extinction.

Apples and oranges. RDR (assuming that stands for Red Dead Redemption, because I haven't a clue otherwise) was a completely different game than ME. RDR was all about... Well, redemption. About a dude atoning for his past sins, trying to get back to a normal life but unable to because his sordid past kept intruding.

Compare that with ME, which is a heroic space opera. The entire game is about the Valiant Struggle, about a David rising up against a supposedly unbeatable Goliath, about an entire species raising it's fist in utter defiance at the things that are coming to kill it.

It's like the difference between Saving Private Ryan and Independance Day. One is a gritty, almost melancholy look at the realities of war and the men who fight it, and the other is an epic fight against an unknowable monster hell-bent on killing us all. We expect the ending to be melancholy at best in SPR. But we expect a gigantic explosion and some patriotic "You Win" music in Independence Day.

Saren has an account on the Bioware forums now?
