When Fenris/Aveline are Tanking, what tactic setup would be best for using Bolster but not too much as to not loose aggro? Or is it better to manually micro it?
Effective tactic setup for Bolster

I am playing rogue and mostly using Aveline. I use pretty minimal commands. Shield wall and battle synergy are up self/any always, so she doesn't have too much stamina .. the only active abilities I use on her are pummel and bellow. So what I do is set her to attack either elites or bosses, depending. Then set target: any - shield bash, and the tactic right under that one is Self mana or stamina < 10% - Bolster.
She'll shield bash every 10 seconds on her own, lots of staggers for Merrill. When she doesn't have enough stam to do it, usually one bolster will do it.
Once she has 200 base stam, she will always be sitting at 20 stam or higher since she'll keep herself at 10%, so if you need to taunt manually - you just hit a bolster and you are over 30 stam for your taunt, where normally you'd have to drink a draught and it's just as fast.

"Her highest ability cost" divided by "her stamina pool".
It's only common sense- if she can't use an ability use Bolster. If all of her abilities consume less than 10% of her stamina pool make it 10%. If an ability consumes more than 10% make it 25%.

Anyone else use bolster, or just rely on Second Wind/Rally/pots?

I just have Self mana/stamina <50%: Bolster
Works well enough to keep her from running out and I've never had an issue with threat. Put it near the end on the tactics list though.. so she'll do something more important if needed.

I just ignore the skill and use second wind.

Ability points are limited, so I've never picked Second Wind on a Warrior. I tend to give Fenris and Aveline Bolster, and set Fenris to use Rally when an ally's stam/mana is below 75%. This seems to work well enough, and it lets me choose other skills that seem more useful. Usually, Aveline is so bogged down with sustained talents that the 5% boost from Bolster is fine. At most, she has like 40% of her stamina availible anyway... Basically, Bolster is just there so she can continue to Taunt, whereas Fenris needs it because he's more a support dps and doesn't get kills often enough to use that as a reliable way to regen stamina.JnEricsonx wrote...

While playing as a Warrior, I've never picked Bolster. I just use potions or aggressively kill opponents (Massacre helps with this) to regain stamina. The only time I slightly regretted this was against the Arishok, but that was because I hadn't bought enough potions and had no idea how the fight worked. Once I figured out how to kill him, it wasn't a problem. This is all on Hard btw...

Bolster wouldbe useful if it wasnt foe the animation. The animation imo to takes too long for a tiny stamina boost.
In the end i just tend to use rally, second wind or potions instead.

I have this, near the bottom of Aveline's tactics list, I think it's #8 or #9, starting from the third from the last:
8. Mana/Stamina < 10%, Use: Second Wind
9. Mana/Stamina < 10%, Use: Bolster
10. Enemy: Target of Hawke, Attack
Check for Second Wind before Bolster, which make sense. I don't see Aveline using Bolster too much. But then again, I never have Aveline run any sustains so she has more stamina to burn up before having to resort to Bolster before Second Wind is ready again.

You do know that Rally has no effect on the warrior activating it. Also Bolster has no point investment requirements.

Set it at the bottom of your tactics and it serves a purpose.
