Yet in party banter, it sounds like Fenris left.  I'm confused?

If you slept with him in Act 2. He does this whole "It's too soon!" and leaves. You didn't end the relationship. He sort of did. As long as you don't sleep with anyone else he will return in act 3. If you don't want to be with him anymore? Sleep with someone else. If they let you.

Nope, it took till Act 3 to do the deed. But we slept together before his sister quest, so, maybe dialogue is bugged in that regard.

Oh the catch with a committed relationship is you want to sleep with them in Act 2. Not Act 3. You can test some stuff. Do the Zevran quest and see if he blocks Zevran off you.

ALSO, there's a bugged option. If you pick "So you're leaving?" even though it has a heart icon, for some reason, it seems to end the relationship. You have to pick the top one. And -don't- tell Anders (when he pries in) that Fenris left.

If you romanced him in Act II he should have a red wrist band and bade of the Hawke family on his hip. You complete the romance at the end of Act III with everyone gawking at you.

Act 2 he leaves. Act 3 after questioning beliefs he returns and apologizes for leaving you years ago. Is really how it's supposed to play out.

I romanced him with my FemHawke but then during banter he says that it was hard to leave Hawke. When I heard this I figured that the game glitched and it was over so I romanced Merrill. At the end of the game when Varric was talking about how the party disbanded he says "well all except.." and he says Merrill and Fenris's name at the same time. lol Weird stuff. The overlaid names was the bug and not Fenris leaving.
