I was in a romance with him, he left when I chose to fight for the mages, I know I run into him again, what do I say to get him to join up with me?
How to get Fenris to fight with you when siding with Mages?

I think you have to be at 100% friendship or rivalry for him to stick with you.

If you are at like 100% he won't leave when you first side with the mages. If you still have a high amount 75-80? He can join you later in the court yard when Meredith lets Orsino and company enter the Gallows for the final talks.

I never had that problem through three playthroughs. I've always had everyone maxed in one direction or another at the end, though.

If you address the Chantry controlled Circle as slavery, he tells Meredith he changes his mind and will side with Hawke and the mages.

easy ways 1. 100% friendship or 2. remind him of slavery, he hates slavery more then mages. Either one works and he so so easy to get to 100% friendship.

Three complete runs and the jerk never sides with me. Could never quite get him to 100% (Friendship in the first, Rivalry the other two) and taking the slave comparison option didn't do anything for my Rogue, he still fought (and died) against her.

I had him at 100 rival and that's how i got him to join me when i sided with mages, you don't need to be friendly at all.
Rival is ok, some people think it's a bad thing, it's just they will follow you because they repsect your abilities but they don't have to like you and me and Fenris never got a long but he would still help out..

I was at 50/50 friend/rival with him and picking the dialog about slavery and stuff got him to side with me in the end.

At 85 rivalry, he sided against me despite reminding about slavery.

Well, that's because you're on the rivalry path. If you're not at 100 percent friendship, you can convince him. If you're not at a hundred percent rivalry, you can't. That's the difference.

Erm, I had about 70% rivalry with him and he still sided with me in the end and I was helping the mages.
