Now I just feel old. Thanks for that.

There there. We'll always have Tab and Quiet Riot. They can't take that from us, with their hippity hop and crystal clear pepsi.

If they decide to change something (like they rectonned Leliana's death, Oghren's death, Anders and Justice) they have an excuse now. I don't think there's anything we can do about it.

They can pretty much provide a reason for all but Oghrens though.
Leliana dies near the sacred ashes, she can just use them to heal herself, We never actually see Anders die if we hand him over to the templars... However yeah the awakening epilogue is a bit confusing there. and Justice is a spirit who can possess anybody

Forget how they make baby qunari.. I want to know mating rituals. Merrill wondered if they rubbed their head against a tree if it itched like Halla did..I wanna know if two male qunari run at each other from distances and ram horns into one another to win a female qunari's heart...

I've seen that. The Qunari were on all fours, though... And they were shaggy and brown.

Oh, those were goats.

The forks, easy to figure out. The pencil, an iffy. The gumption part? Now that's going too far.

Wasn't the explanation that the Warden didn't know that Oghren was really dead? The same Warden who fought against darkspawn, dragons, abominations, templars, golems, and demons couldn't tell that a dwarf was dead?

Isn't that the same explanation for the people who imported a dead Leliana? So Leliana can get her head cut off, and a defiled Urn of Sacred Ashes would be the explanation for saving her?

Anders and Justice in DA2 basically recton every single Epilogue slide we see for the two of them in Awakening. I don't understand why DA:O gives us choice if the writers are going to blatantly ignore our choices. At least now they can excuse the rectons with the explanation that Varric "exaggerated."

Mr. Gaider, not everything Varric said was a complete lie right?

I mean its ok if some details werent right, but not everything. I wouldnt mine if it turned out Hawke didnt have a sibling that died at the Orges hands in the beginning and Hawke only actually having one sibling the whole time. Details like those you know.

Oh and also Mr. Gaider, Dragon Age 3 the main character will be Qunari right, well more like whatever the race is actually called. We all know Qunari are followers of the Qun.

I agree the oghren one is stupid, regarding Leliana her having her head cut off is a result of the deathblow finisher, it happens a few times in origins where we use it and cut someones head off and then suddenly its back on after the fight. It used to be the case with Loghain, it still is the case with that surrendering mage in the tower and theres a few others i cant recall but yeah whatever happens during deathblow I think doesn't really count, it didn't in origins anyway.

Anders does retcon the epilogue slide, Justice however not so much. Kristoffs body is the one that dropped dead, Kristoffs body is the one that got its head cut off.. Justice simply was possessing it. He was killed in our world but not in the fade. Anders is a mage and so is always connected to the fade. Justice could have contacted him there or in a dream about if he could possess him. Or could have asked him before Kristoff died and done so after

Mr Gaider, I want to know what sort of brain-washing voodoo is in this game as I'm on my fifth playthough and I can't stop romancing Anders for the fourth time. >.>

Maybe Leliana is alive because her turning on you and you killing her was a vision of the Gauntlet? And she just wakes up on the mountain and goes back to the Chantry? *gives flimsy reason*

If you really think David is going to spoil DA3 before it's even been made then I would like to sell you a Qunari mage spa built right outside of Tevinter, where it never rains and no animals were harmed in it's production.

The point is, she's as dead as Oghren is, but both of them come back because the writers decided to change things, even if it contradicts the "world" that the person is importing. Hand waving it as the Warden not realizing she was dead is ridiculous; the Warden can defeat a High Dragon and the Archdemon, but he's not able to tell when a person is dead?

But look at the timeline, where the Blight is over a year after Lothering's destruction, and Hawke meets Anders in Kirkwall... despite the fact that Anders is supposed to be in Amaranthine where he's going to meet the Commander of the Grey. It's as skewed as Oghren having a baby with Felsi (who is already born) in the span of six months...

I think Bioware is allowed one genuine "Varric was lying" retcon, so long as it actually makes sense that he would lie about it. Excluding minor details and jokes, that is.

Dwarves aren't humans. Perhaps their gestation cycle is different. Is there a codex entry that states dwarves gestate for nine months?

It will be like this.
BioWare will say nothing about this.
When a retcon appears in DA3, someone will make a topic like "Why is Anders alive when I killed him in DA2?"

The response from all subsequent posts will be "Varric lied".

I actually cut off Bann Teagan's head in DA:O so I don't consider the whole 'I cut off Leliana's head' as a valid argument.
As for Varric lying, I don't have any problem with it. Bioware put themselves in the position to change the story if they wanted to. I doubt they will change really anything except maybe a character coming back.

I agree, combat animations shouldn't be taken into account.  The fact that the ashes were ruined, the guardian destroyed, the entire holy site desecrated and left to a viscous high dragon infused with the power of the ashes?  Yeah, that should be.  But it doesn't matter, they've already specifically NOT explained Leliana's reappearance.  The whole "it was the ashes" thing is something the playerbase is saying.

The problem with the "Varric lying" is that it says they knowingly gave us options they had no intention of allowing to stand.  There have been retcons on DAO, but a lot of us accept that it may be a necessary evil.  They gave us a lot of options and then came up with a new story that, if told, unfortunately required some minor rewriting.  That is a whole different thing than giving us a story with full intention of later saying "gotcha!  it was a dream, a wizard did it, and it happened in the alternate universe."  Basically the difference between telling someone something you think is true but isn't, and telling them a bald-faced lie.
