There's a scene in Act I where Knight-Captain Cullen talks about the mages and the Templars' duty, and you're supposed to say that you (generally) support the templars, or that the templar order needs to change.  His response is interesting, as the camera moves to highlight the statues in the gallows, Cullen talks about how the mages would just as soon use the symbols of the slaves, the statues, to their own advantage.  And yet, at the end of the game it is Meredith who ends up using the statues (literally) to her advantage.

On the first playthrough, it was merely the musings of a character caught in a struggle.  On the 2nd playthrough, it was a very cool moment.

Yeah, I look at those giant copper/bronze/whatever statues in a new light now that I've beaten the game once. I wonder if the really big ones that regulate passage across the Waking Sea are actually awakenable magister golems as well.

Those two big statues at the mouth of the Kirkwall port ("the Twins") kinda reminded me of the two statues in the Fellowship of the Ring movie. You know the ones on the river?

Just going to point out. He's Knight-Captain Cullen. There is only one Knight-Commander and that is Meredith. She holds that rank like an Anaconda on crack.
