 I was wondering if I fully upgrade Vigils Keep will it survive the Darkspawn attack if I went to save Armanthine instead of defending the Keep?

I ask the question because on my next playthrough of Awakening I wanted to keep Vigils Keep but also I want to save the city.  I swore I heard that it was possible in one of the threads of the Dragon Age 2 forums, as long as you do what i stated in my question.

If you fully upgrade the Keep it will survive against the Darkspawn. However, certain companions can fall if left behind at the Keep, even if it's fully upgraded
