I dont understand how you can just get rid of an entire spec without an explanation as to why or how? Honestly, Im very frustrated by the lack of explanation on Bioware's end when it comes to changes or removing content that people actually enjoyed. What did we get in return? We lost a spec that a large portion of the original game's community played and nobody even says anything about it? Atleast give us a Paladin spec or something.... but why just remove it and give us nothing in return?

I would like to see it put back into the series either through DLC or in Dragon Age 3. It would be something that would be well worth a DLC instead of some random encounter that people play through once or twice and thats it.

Balancing takes effort.

Cutting corners is the logical solution Captain.

In Lore, an Arcane Warrior is a long Dead specilization commonly used by the Dalish. The Warden and his/her companions could be an Arcane Warrior Due to the Warden finding a very Old phylactery.

It makes sense that Hawke can't be an Arcane Warrior, it's a long forgotten art.

From wikia:

The Arcane Warriors once widely existed amongst the ancient Elves. However, after their fall, the art of the Arcane Warriors is seemingly all but lost.

All but lost would mean that somewhere out there it still exists. Now yes, I'd agree on the point that if its so very rare, why should Hawke be able to be one? But realistically thats a very weak arguement. Hawke sees the entire world given to him/her and has dealings with Dalish. It certainly wouldnt be out of the question for him to come across the same type of thing the Warden did.

There cant be any other explanation other than Bioware didnt feel like doing it and cut corners. It so sad to see this series ripped apart and gutted just to make a quick buck Image IPB

Or maybe it's because Bioware wanted their mages to be mages instead of plate wearing juggernaughts?

Hawke has more dealings with the Dalish (and a Dalish who is obsessed with lost lore in particular) over 10 years than the Dalish Warden.

It could have been implemented lore wise easily.

Who needs teaching? If you want to be a blood mage, you can mystically turn into one. What's a Force Mage? I got no idea, but I get to be one! And in Origins you had to earn Reaver by defiling ashes, but now you can figure it out yourself! Yay! It's so much better!

I don't recall any evidence that the modern Dalish tribes retained this piece of lore. We know that the Dalish have lost much of their lore.

You assume they couldn't have stumbled upon a phylactery during, let's say, a quest with Merril into an ancient elven burial ground which Sundermount is riddled with.

probably went like
"how can we make arcane warrior awesome if mages can't wield weapons?"
"well, we could just remove the stupid weapon restrictions you put in."
"NOOO, warrior=sword, rogue=dagger, button=awesome! let's just scrap it"

Sorry to interrupt, but HA! Lore is worth sh*t in DA2. Even the most basic combat breaks the most basic lore, the rules of magic, which clearly states there is no goddamn teleporting, not even minor.

You don't even have to make a deal with the demon anymore to learn blood magic.

After the glorious return of the Revenant ones, I wouldn't be surprised.

They said that there was going to be more restrictions on the class to make them more unique.

Where does it say that mages can't teleport?
And yes, mages must still consort with Demons to become Blood Mages.

Or Eterna5 is trying to say DA2 is not an RPG. One or the other.

"You must not be under the misimpression that magic is all-powerful.
There are limits, and not even the greatest mages may overcome them.

No one, for instance, has found any means of traveling-either
over great distances or small ones-beyond putting one foot in front of
the other. The immutable nature of the physical world prevents this. So
no, you may not simply pop over to Minrathous
to borrow a cup of sugar, nor may you magic the essay you "forgot" in
the apprentice dormitory to your desk. You will simply have to be
prepared"

-Cardinal rules of Magic

Hawke doesn't do a deal with the demon. That already breaks the lore. Don't have the patience to remember all other instances where people just break blood magic out of their sleeve.

I'll give you the teleporting thing.
But you don;t need to bargain with a demon to become a blood Mage, you simply have to able to summon negative spirits from the fade.

Anders-Fenris banter and the acquisition of the specialization in DA:O says otherwise.

I'm sorry, but wha?

And truely, I'd buy the "lore wise they don't make sense" arguement if Hawke couldn't just decide to become a Reaver (how'd he manage to prepare what's needed for this again?), or a Templar (how'd he learn how to become one, again?), a Blood Mage, or any of the other trees out of the blue.

You can't use "lore wise it doesn't make sense" considering what specialties are still in and freely available.
