Because classes can't have any overlapping features I mean no one thinks that mage that can do some close combat is awesome do they no they like their strictly defined role based classes.

I am hoping for some crossover classes like arcane warrior to make an apearance in a possible expansion. I think that the DA2 classes were good and were open to lots of different build choices, however, I think there is room for some more creative options.

This and other specializations should be in, 4 for each class. Guardian thrown in. Throw in battle mage talents into the arcane warrior. Take out shadow and give us ranger and bard. Get rid of force mage and throw in shapeshifter! PUHLEASE!

lore is not an excuse, i miss the specialization. if it comes with a dlc i would feel pranked

This is a RPG, Lore matters A lot.

This is Dragon Age by Mike laidlaw, he apparantly hates the lore for his own game and ignores it frequently.

But you don;t need to bargain with a demon to become a blood Mage, you simply have to able to summon negative spirits from the fade.

Anders-Fenris banter and the acquisition of the specialization in DA:O says otherwise.

 Not really.

YES. REALLY.

It is stated time and again that to use the blood magic one must "look a demon in the eyes and accept their offer".

Reason its gone, simple : Mages cant use swords anymore because of the new limitations which sucks. Why in the creators view can mages who have physical forms not use weapons is beyond me. I miss the Origins class systems for just this reason.

It is ridiculous.

Also another thing I can't stand is that I cannot go weaponless. If you unequip your weapon you get some generic magically summoned weapon instantly put in your hands.

In Origins you could punch things and cast spells unarmed.

When I first noticed this strange magically formed placeholder weapon I thought something was wrong ... turned out that was what they intended. LAME.

So if there is no teleporting what do the elven mirrors do when traveling through them, shoot you out in Mach3?

I would like more choices. AW, battlemage shapeshfiting etc. back for mages.
DW and archery back for warriors, ability to use daggers and swords/maces/1-handed axes for rogues. etc. Its currently too limited. imho

And weapon swapping slots please. My rogues in da2 use both archery and dw. I don't want to sell a dagger by accident...again.

From the descriptions I have always thought of the mirrors as doorways to...somewhere else.

probably went like
"how can we make arcane warrior awesome if mages can't wield weapons?"
"well, we could just remove the stupid weapon restrictions you put in."
"NOOO, warrior=sword, rogue=dagger, button=awesome! let's just scrap it"

Don't know why... but this seems so... possible

Welcome to Bioware's new mentality.

Anyways I guess the whole DA universe forgot about them like most Elven lore.

Lol ok.

If Arcane Warrior specialization is "lost" "forgotten" .. and all that ...

Then how comes my ORLESIAN WARDEN in AWAKENING is Arcane Warrior if my Frelden Warden is dead and so is all the knowledge with him.

Also, it's not just your warden who can learn the Arcane Warrior spec. Wynne can learn it too. Why would she keep something like that under wraps?

It's a gameplay mechanic, not a storytelling/lore mechanic, the two will always be at odds.

The amount they'd have to nerf Arcane Warrior to make it in line to the mage/warrior/rogue trichotomy would be so great would it even really be worth using?

There were arena combatants in Orzamar who were arcane warriors... that orb isn't the only way to learn it.

But I don't really want to see it in a DA2 expansion, because that would make me want to play as a mage, and then things would just get complicated story-wise...  It should return in DA3 though... maybe...

Meh you could build a mage who could wear armor the only thing missing was the weapon restriction. If they got rid of the weapon restriction then DA2 would be fine as far as building a nbattle mage type goes.

Drake Amell finds a phylactery and learns Arcane Warrior from the spirit of an ancient Elf. Later he conscripts a Mage on the run from Templars and teaches him. Said Mage later leaves the Wardens and becomes an abomination forgetting half of his skills and becoming a homicidal maniac.

This is one of the reasons I don't want the warden back for DA3. Just in case I end up buying DA3. Three out of my 11 wardens were Arcane warriors.

I'm not sure who went around Thedas handing out the D & D rulebook stipulating that mages have to wear dresses and can't learn to use a sword, but I suspect they were Chantry agents.

I do hope it is expanded upon and returns in later installments. It's the closest thing one has to dual classing/cross specialization in the game. Plus, numerous RP possibilities for the spec, especially for the future.
