I was just wondering, can you "never" bring flemeth amulet to the mountain top? say go through Act 1-2 and 3 without doing that quest / ritual, or does it stop you from progressing and remind you to do it? But if you can just ignore it, now does that meen, if flemeth is dead in Dragon age Origins, that shes gone for good? And if morrigan dies in Witch hunt, then whats left for a possible Dragon Age 3?

You have to complete a number of seemingly unrelated quests before the expedition will be ready to go regardless of if you have the money to invest.  One of them is the amulet, the others are setups for future quests involving the qunari and mage/templar conflicts.
