I did the direct download. I have a program called "EA Download Manager." I do have a Steam, but DA isn't on it. Alien vs Predator and such is on that.

Then, why am I finding DA files in places like "my docuements" and "my pictures"? It's all very confusing.

Dragon Age Origins installs files in two locations. The exact name of some of these folders depends on what version of Windows you have. Generally, the main program is installed either Program Files > Dragon Age or, if you have a 64-bit operating system, Programs (x86) > Dragon Age.

In addition, saved games, some DLC-related files, configuration files, etc are stores under My Documents > Bioware > Dragon Age.

I'll repeat my earlier request:

Second... if you want real tech
support from your fellow gamers... then you should post your system
specs-- hardware, OS information, and what version of the game you're
playing.

Oh, sure, no problem. Would you please send me a private message, though, so I can reply with the information? I'm a little skittish about posting it on a forum that anybody can read. I will tell you, but not anybody who looks at this page. Call it mild paranoia.

Sorry, no. If you're that concerned, you need to contact EA tech support directly.

Go to support.ea.com, click on "Contact Us", log in with your account, and send them a complete message.

Good luck!

The last time I did that, they said they couldn't help me because the issue only occured after the game loaded and started playing, thus making it Bioware's issue. And when I tried to contact Bioware's tech support, I never got an answer. Hence, why I've been asking questions around the forums. I wouldn't ask these questions of people who aren't paid tech support if the correct channels were working. Simply put, it shouldn't be their job to help people, it should be the people who are getting paid to do so.
