Would you have preferred if Dragon Age 2 was handled by Blizzard?

DA2 being made by Bioware in control by EA with a development cycle of 18 months, getting streamlined, cut down, content re-used and being made shorter. But at least, you get your game fast.
Or DA2 being made by Blizzard with a development cycle of over 10 years, getting bigger, more epic and better but.............TEN YEARS IN THE MAKING!!! But at least, you get your game awesome.

I wish Obsidian had picked it up... You know THAT would have been epic.

And I'm not sure I would've liked obsidian picking it up either.
All we need to do is convince EA that Bioware can make them bullions (sorry) given enough time. And after that we can begin harnessing the power of ponies and rainbows for free-energy and world peace.

"Would Dragon Age 2 be better if it was made by Obsidion?
Now THAT would be a great topic.
As far as this topic goes though, the combat, at least in DAO and partially in DA2, was so similar to WoW that yeah, I think Blizzard probably would have handled DA2 pretty well. It may have taken 10 years to release, but it would have been quality. It would have paid more attention to the lore, and it probably would have had large seamless areas with many cities, and various types of mounts to travel between them with.

It's not like Bioware is incapable ... they just royally ****ed up by adapting a new project management style known as "Let's see if we can get away with it".

As for the dev. production time, might I remind you a little game that always wanted to include the latest tech in it - and has vanished nearly 'forever'....

My deepest and most enjoyable CRPG experiences are still brought by BioWare, while "it's not the company we used to know", it's still my last bastion of hope. They're not perfect, but none of us are. At least I don't regret the time spent in most BioWare games.

^This I will never understand. Why on earth would i want my game "fast"? Can pleeeeease someone explain? Like... will I die if I wait longer? What's the urgency for a fastfood here? Shorter development cycles scream shorter content, shallow story, and overall drop in quality. So no, I don't want my game "fast". I want quality.Fieryeel wrote...

Why don't we just take the whole franchise and throw it to the zerg.
Honestly, companies are allowed to make mistakes once in a while. They are human beings after all (or so we believe). We move past this and hope BioWare makes the next product something to remember.

If you want to avoid a game catering to the lowest common denominator, Blizzard is today one of the last company I would consider. Their handling of WoW has been the DEFINITION of "dumbing down" since the two last expansions.

For DA, the focus of the two studios is far too different. You might be able to say it was more polished, but you wouldn't be able to say it was Dragon Age.

I think the real question is if you'd prefer Blizzard to be making TOR.
I've seen how TOR looks today (well... I follow it a lot =P). And the answer would be no.
I like how BioWare is handling it

Hands down Obsidian. I believe everyone will agree. They make far better sequels.
Well, no offense to Obsidian, but their sequel to Neverwinter Nights didn't exactly impress the NWN community. I lot of people I know still refuse to acknowledge that there even is a NWN2. In fact, the community reaction to DA2 now resembles that of NWN2 when that game first released

They would take a big **** on the storyline of DA:O, call the Mage v. Templar war something that was 'prophesized' by unknown entities at an unknown point in time (b/c prophesies are cool), vaguely refer to the 'return of the Old Gods' or something while pretending Morrigan doesn't exist. Then in DA3 you will randomly have help from all the civilizations of Thedas (like in DA:O, only you don't need to recruit them, they just show up to help you for no reason) to fight the Old Gods.
Do you really want that?
Do you?
Really?
Blizzard had ten years to make a story (just a story, never mind a good one) for SC2:WoL without retconning the entirety of SC & SC:BW and look at what they did.Fieryeel wrote...
