Blizzard usually has 5 years development cycles, not 10.
Their stories are ok-ish, but they shine in gameplay, although I don't see them making this type of game, they focus more on multiplayer, and do so quite well.

Btw, all people that are jerking off while praising Bioware's amazing story telling. Are you taking the ******?

Family runs from war, does a ton of boring fetch/kill quests (each of them challenging the beginner quests in WoW for omgru4real-lvl) they grow more important by doing even more boring fetch quests and they kill some bad people. The only somewhat decent story line is at the end for a cliffhanger to the next one. Care to explain me what I missed in this description?

Oh, you must mean the companions amazing background, which all seems to be "OMG, my whole life I have this 1 unresolved issue, which involves killing someone."

I bet I can up with a story more intruiging than that. It might actually have an ending, or a feeling of an overlying plot, that ties together all the quests / acts.

I do like their games, don't get me wrong. (well, apart from DA2) At least when Blizzard made it, it would have been bugfree and fun to play, or they would have had the decency to cancel it. (Starcraft Ghost, Warcraft Adventures)

Yes you can make a better story, so can I.

But there aren't many companies that can come up with stories of Bioware level.

Bioware isn't a complete story geak. They balance between 'choices' you can make and 'stories' they can tell.

If you want great stories, there are already 13 FF games out there.

What makes Bioware a great story teller is not just the plots but interactions/dialogues/lores/ characters/ factions all combined. At this point I'm sure neither of us can surpass Bioware.

Anybody can come up with brilliant story with lots of twist, drama, and conflicts. Making a game out of it is a differetn matter, a point I hope you reconsider.

btw: If I were the story writer for ME3, I would surely want to make it much more dramatic(like earth blowing up to dust) than stupid earth saving. But I guess it's a compromise Bioware chose between complex story vs gameplay.

REMEMBER SC2!!! SURE IT'S A GREAT GAME BUT the STORY? FHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

They are good at making lores but their story telling stinks like mouse ****.

"Dude, Kerrigan's back. This artifact is the only hope."

"Oh, Alright." (slaps Kerrigan with the artifact and they go out for Mengsk hunt.)

Blizzard's exclusive skill = artifact crap. everytime there story gets complex they try to make an excuse by artifact.

If blizzard makes me3 I know how it will end too well. Reapers come - > Shepard become mercenery to earn cash and upgrade his gears -> Meanwhile he learns some random artifac that can wipe reapers out - > Dark Voice makes an appearance - > Confront reapers with the artifact , and find out the reapers are actually good guys to warn us of greater threat -> Alli with reapers - >? Some foreshadowing for next sequel

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Oddly enough, the artifact is already in DA2. Not gonna spoiler, but it has to do with something found in the Deep Roads.......

Lol. This is such a fail post.

- Longer Development time --> GOOD.
- weak story full of clichés: impossible to beat DA2 in this aspect. Blizz stories are great....

Blizz stories, great ?

Oh God...

Yes. I understand that many people hate Blizz for creating WoW - a hate well-deserved, definitely - but let´s be honest: SC2 and WC3 had better stories than any other game I ever played. And this includes even DAO.

Choices are vasted overrated, especially in DA2. In 1, you could have some impact on major events. But in 2, yeah, you can chose to help someone or not. Or to kill someone or not, but it's not like it has an effect or anything...

Games I remembered with amazing stories (which I can see standing in the shelf in front of me, I probably miss a couple dozen):
Grim Fandango
Blade runner
Shadow of Memories

Games that do something different than a typical fantasy RPG setting.

Dragon Age 2 is a masterpiece. So was Origins and ME 1 & 2. As for the Obsidian thing... KOTOR1 was better than KOTOR2 and Fallout 3 was better than New Vegas, therefore, if you want an amazing sequel don't hand it over to Obsidian, they'll only produce a mediocre rehash of the first game... Blizzard has three solid franchises and should not wander from them because they'll have no idea what to do. They know how to make three things: an AMAZING RTS, a super-fun Dungeon Crawler with a crappy story, and an addictive MMORPG. I highly doubt they can do anything else. Blizzard stories have never been very impressive either. Bottom line is, BioWare kicks ass. ;)

No, I'd prefer for it to be handled by Bioware. What makes games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age so great is the way Bioware handles it's party dynamic and story. You can always try to stack it up against other games and writing but there's a reason why people are attracted to Bioware's games.

I'm fine with the scale they have their games and think that one game, albeit it's flaws, isn't enough for me to ponder who should work on Dragon Age that isn't Bioware. I think a lot would be lost from what really makes their games.

Another vote for Obsidian. After all, they gave the world the epic Alpha Protocol.

See? Dragon Age II isn't so bad after all!

I don't see what all the whining and complaining was all about. The general agreement is that with the exception of Obsidian, no company could have better made DA2 than Bioware.

The fact that there's no really better developer for DA franchise than it's creator doesn't in any way say that "Dragon Age II isn't so bad after all". DA2 is just... ugh... well, sellcharts say it all. Bioware COULD HAVE made a descent sequel to DAO. They could have...

Black Isle made both Fallout 1 & 2 and those were amazing. Still, Obsidian is not really Black Isle....

This is my opinion. Everyone is entitled to express how they feel about those games. I am not an idiot, I just have a different opinion than you.

that's not true at all

They've already basically confirmed a Warcraft 4, but you know they only work on 1-2 games at a time. I suspect you won't hear anything about it until after diablo 3 launches.

WoW isnt a sequal to warcraft 3

My preference would be for the old BioWare team to leave EAWare and start their own company rather than serve their current masters at EA.  DA2 is the logical result of BioWare having sold itself to the crass moneymongers of EA.  It's a pity that BioWare didn't have the discipline to manage itself in such a way that it could have remained both profitable and independent.

Once, maybe. A longer time ago than I care to remember.

That doesn't necessarily translate to 'Bioware always do things right', though. There's plenty about DA2 which could be improved upon.

By lore I mean the events that lie at the core of both said games. Like the creation of the world by titans, madness of Sargeras, corruption of the orcs and their invasion to Azeroth from Draenor etc. etc. And yes, tauren paladins -

If Blizzard made DA2 all you would be doing was run out and kill x amount of boars. Oddly enough that sounds more fun than the current game.
