Think about for a second. Human beings all the time are taught to press a button and receive a reward. We are also taught that we are capable to kill millions without a second thought. And you know what it is called when we kill millions for rewards? Call of Duty. That right I am bringing video games into this. Frankly you are told that if you kill somebody you receive a reward. Much like any RPG out there where you kill an enemy you receive XP. You can justify from here to high heaven that you wont press the button and that my comparison is not true, but the fact is humans are trained to kill when a reward is present. You ever wonder why there are so many shooters out there or some great evil in every RPG? The reason is that we demonize the enemies so that we don't feel pity for them. I reason why the scenerio is a yes for me because I can say honestly that I wouldn't care who the **** I just killed because I may or may not know who the person is. It is that uncertainity that allows me to press the button without second thought. And frankly, 1 out 1 billion people on Earth, What is the probability that any of them are in your immediate family are the ones who die.Silent Phoenix wrote...

what guilt are you guys talking about? I mean you never see the person and you are told that one random person is killed if you press the button. You have no idea who the person is at all. Its like me saying if you press a key on the keyboard, one random person dies. Well jokes on you, people die all the time.
What kind of logic is that? You mean just because I don't know who he is I shouldn't feel bad about killing him?! *facepalm*
And of course people die all the time. But not because of me. And that makes ALL the difference.

I can only assume by what you say that
- you play far too many computer games and cannot discern between reality/ games anymore properly
- you have somehow been brainwashed or received some other form of weird education, because most people I know have not been 'programmed to kill for a reward' (remember, we are not talking about life-threatening situations here, so it's not about killing someone in self-defense or anything. We are talking about pressing a button out of a personal whim.)
- you cannot grasp the worth of a human life
It's okay, mate, do what you must. It's you pressing that button after all, and if you can sleep at night with all that beautiful cash under your pillow while someone else is most likely crying over the loss of a loved one, who am I to argue?

I'm a human too and I know the chance is really small. But I don't want to die yet.

Think about this for a second. You step on a bug or hunt an animal, do you feel sympathy for taking that life? If you do, you really need some help. However lets change the animal to say your pet. Do you feel sympathy there? Well hell yeah you do. The difference is emotional connection to the victim. You have no idea who is the random victim is when you press the button, thus you don't develope an emotional connection. Also look up the Skinner box.Silent Phoenix wrote...

Not having an emotional connection is a reason to kill?
Does it matter if I know the guy I'm gonan kill or not? That person still has family and friends..hopes and dreams. That person might be a child, a old lady or a teenage girl celebrating her birthday.
And you'd just happily end that life, bring pain and suffering to those connected to it?
I'd never press that bottun. But now I'm actually tempted, if the paerson affected would be you...

Haha, people need help if they feel the slightest bit of sympathy for dead animals? People who aren't sociopaths seriously need help, amirite?MrDizaztar wrote...

But seriously, no. The guilt would outweigh the benefits of the money. I would think about it for the rest of my life.
