From what we've seen in DA:O and DA2, I think that Mages would make a better policing force than Templars.

It would be a cool way to re-introduce arcane warrior in DA3, with a bit of a twist.

I don't see them as joining the templar order but more as a separate cadre (like the Seekers) who hunt Apostates because they are devoted Andrasteans and believe in the system, I think it would be a great Idea

When the dust settles, I can easily see mages forming an important part along with warriors with Templar training, of a universal mage-hunter police force.
