I think sex is actually regulated and you could only do it to have kids.

I wonder thou, can everyone have sex in Qun? I mean are there restrictions?
And Qun doesn't really appeal to me. I like order and stuff, but I also want to have few pleasures of my own.

If you have the traits that the tamrassan deem desirable for the next generation, you might get to breed, unless a sufficient number of others have more of those traits. Of course, you don't get to choose when, or with whom.

And sex outside of the tamrassan's watch(ie for pleasure) is frowned upon.  The only punishment, however, is reeducation on the subject.

What reeducation means, in a race that actively lobotomizes their lower laborers, is open to speculation however

The qunari are the only free peoples on Thedas, the only shackles placed upon us are the limits of our ambition and ability. We bow to no false gods, no foul magics and no corrupt bloodlines that fail to protect the people who raised them whilst bleeding them dry.

Apparently at least one mage of the Qun is still proud to serve the Qun despite his lot in life.

You really think that a people with very strict social roles, were everyone is shoe-horned into a certain group whether they like it or not, makes them free? Heh.

It's called brainwashing and indoctrination.

Sure, knowing it's bound to fail, and completely inhumane, that's certainty. But how does that increase the appeal of the whole affair, I wonder? :|

Qunari are free people. Free from uncertainty, from doubt, from risk of ruining their life by a wrong choice at the very start. Free from poverty, free from harassment and personal attacks...

People of Thedas are sick. Poisoned by uncertainty. They debate and they doubt and they're never content with whom they are. Mages wanna be farmers, farmers wanna be merchants, merchants wanna be governors. Their nobility are parasites, they solution to mages being dangerous is not working, they waste people allowing them to be beggars and loiters. They're impractical, stupid and undisciplined.

They will be re-educated. And they will know the truth. Or they will die. Everybody is free to choose.

"mumbles" stupid bas "grunts"

You are chosen after aplitude and family history. So if you're disabled I doubt it. You're probably in circulation unless there is a disability though, to hinder inbreeding.

KnightofPhoenix wrote...

They might have eugenic practises? Like only allow good specimens to reproduce? Maybe birth control?

Their whole society is centered around eugenics. Qunari aren't born, they're bred.

Yes and the Qun are so much better. They look down upon nobility, but apply the rules of nobility to everyone. Your role is determined at birth, just like nobles.
What is merit and worth to the Qun? Nothing. A farmer will always be a farmer despite any skill they may show, while the Arishok shall always be Arishok even if he is an incompetent fool (like a certain one we know).

It's actually quite funny that Seamus is so incredibly stupid he doesn't see the irony in this.

And if you embrace the Qun you would wonder no longer but know and thus be content, we cannot and will not fail if only for the sake of your poor unenlightened souls. Fear not children.

You also get certainty and structure.

Though living under the Qun would suck if you were a mage.

Fix'd

Fix'd

Your fix doesn't make any sense - if the mage is a qunari, he has no quarrels with his fate, if he is a sentient being, *that's* why he has a problem with it :|

Exactly. He's sentient enough to not have quarrels with it.

They would probably say it's the bas who are brainwashed and indoctrinated into thinking their own self-destructive path is actually better for them.

No, the Arishok started out like a grunt in the military branch he showed aplitude for (infantry, marines, cavvalry etc). Then he rose through the ranks and was chosen Arishok.

I think he would be deposed if he was an incompetent fool.

You know I'm placing my bets right now that the Qun came to Par Vollen because they were fleeing a master race of female warrior elves.

People that think joining the Qun is cool or good are the same ones that think becoming Reaper food in Mass Effect was a good idea. Same concept, no individuality, become a part of the whole.
