Dunno if anyone has noticed but you can not get the "Ambrosia" ingredient for the "Elixer of Heroism" potion to gain a level etc...unless you keep Isabella in your party thru to Act 3 and then do her companion quest "No rest for the Wicked" as the ingrediant is in Castillons Lair. What was Bioware thinking there to make it such a tight restriction and not to mention people shying away from Isabella in 2nd play thru's due to bugs etc....

In my opinion they should not have tighed up a crafting resource to a companion where you may not even have her included or never used her etc....Fair enough to tigh it into a quest like the "Dragon's Blood" by killing the High dragon etc...but at least that's accessable by anyone if they want to do it. Not fair to link it to a companion, so now in my 2nd playthrough I won't be able to use the potion even though I got the recipe due to crappy programming...AGAIN!!! :(

Way to many oversights and bugs in this game to to be honest it's actually been more of a chore and highlited those bugs and glitches more in the second playthrough than the first one.......<sigh>:?

You don't have to keep her in your party at all. I've never had her in my party on my playthroughs except for her companion quests and its more than possible to get to the 50 friend/rival and do the questioning beliefs thing and keep her around.
While there are many problems bioware could fix this ones a PEBKAC issue and not their fault

I find it odd people complain about this, but not that Varric's final armor upgrade requires the "Finding Nathaniel" quest from an Awakenings import.

I was about to say this!
That was annoying particularly since the Nathaniel thing is completely buggy.  I had to get a mod to make sure it happened with my Witch Hunt import because of the stupid bugs.  Nathaniel survived in Awakening for me and stayed with the wardens, and yet my first playthrough didn't have 'Finding Nathaniel'.
So not only is Varric's final armor part of a mission you only get for one of the origin stories or a particular type of import... but it's bugged to hell.
And Aveline's armor upgrade... 2 out of 3 playthroughs it bugged out and Jeven never dropped it.

The Isabela bug is bad though.  Isa's bonus is there for me even after I gave her over so I cannot escape the stupid bug it causes.  But really, ambrosia not available except for Isa's mission is the least of my gripes about items.

That's why I can't find the bloody thing?

Now I'm complaining.

In my head.

I'm sure the devs receive enough of it on these forums.

Hmmm.....just another annoyance then if not a full on gripe but just completed 2nd play through without bothering with isabella or sebastion at all except where necessary and lost isabella after act 2 and can confirm that you at least do not get the decreased speed or decreased dam resistance bug but the price you pay is never getting the Ambrosia needed for Elixer of Heroism.....However I must say that you don't really need it as I finished the game the second time with a mage at 25th level with no xp cheats and obviously........NO ELIXER !!!! :)))))))

You can find it in Hightown during the Qunari attack.

It's in a crate on your right as you pass the Merchant Guild and head towards the Blooming Rose.

I don't see any use in this potion. Yeah everyone leveled up but I didn't get any additional stat points or ability points.

What's the point of the potion?

it's on a dead corpse(placement, not one you kill) not in a crate
