I get a great sense of fear coming from this community on this subject and its rather disheartening to think we have come so far as a species to be civilized and accept others, with Bioware being one of the front runners pushing the sexual boundaries in games. Then we have mental children like OT who are bothered by other people's choices and the ability to have everyone able to roleplay their preference with any character.

You guys may think its funny but its this way of thinking that make humanity equivalent to cavemen and instead of being happy all walks of like can romance majority of the NPCs we have homophobic people ruining that

"Sexual boundaries"? This is a product designed to entertain, not some pamphlet some club at a college campus is trying to hand out. "Homophobic people ruining that, way of thinking that makes humanity equivalent to cavemen"? There are real problems in the world and this isn't one of them. Don't be so dramatic that not everybody shares your opinion. I should have the option of being able to work with a straight Anders and Fenris as they supposedly are in a universe with a FemHawke.

Well...I hate to say this, but you have a great chance of getting "gay friendly fire", since almost every companion is gay or bisexual...........

Yes! And melee Hawkes need to be protected from same sex companions, less their gayness rub off on them in the heat of battle! I demand a full body condom in the next patch!

Jeez....I made a mistake. But come on, guys. You know what I meant.....

It was just a really really funny mistake.  Needless to say, I thought this thread would make me :pinched: but instead it made me :P

Anyhow, With Origins there were a lot of people who fealt left out because they couldn't romance Alistair without playing a female character, etc.  David Gaider even discussed in the comments section of Gay Gamer that the alternative would be to make character's sexuality variable based on Hawke's gender, or else make them all bi.  This is exactly what they went with for DA:2.

I think it's an understandable shortcut when you don't have the time or resorces alocated for more than four romance options.  However, I do think it makes the writing seem a touch unrealistic and contrived for everyone to be Hawke-sexual instead of having clearly defined personal sexual preferences.

Perhaps in the future, the characters should alternately have set sexual preferences, and the player character could still romance them, but with it taking more effort with a character who's sexual preference is not the player character.  I would love to see that aproach taken with some in the future.  I'm guessing this time they probably didn't even have time enough to consider making the game it more subtle.

I think you are over reacting.  OP was just surprised that all the romancable companions seem interested in Hawk.  It's understandable, as it's not exactly typical in games, and in real life, most people don't have that many bisexual or homosexual friends trying to get with them.  lol  It's not WRONG, and it is progressive and inclusive of Bioware, but it's understandable that for some it's a bit jarring.  And of course there is nothing unreasonable or homophobic about questioning weather or not 'variable sexuality' weekens characterisation.

Thanks a lot! That's exactly what I was trying to say. I was just surprised and curious about why that happened.

Get over it. @ anyone who is seriously miffed.
We got over not being able to romance Morrigan as ladies (though it brokededed mah heart) so I'm sure you can ignore the fact the entire party want your pen0r. Anyway, in the little I played it seemed like a couple of them won't get all 'Oh Hawke, DO ME!!!!' unless you encourage them.

I'm going to be honest; I got excited when I heard Merrill saying something to Aveline. I think Aveline said Merrill should 'keep something to herself' and Merrill came back with 'I'd rather keep it with Hawke'. UNFUNFUNF

You know it's a fantasy world when the Chantry doesn't persecute gays. Creates a nice little virtual reality for homosexuals where they can live out their dreams of being accepted by society. Question is: if I don't give a **** about homosexuals in real life, why must I be forced to deal with them in a popular video game?

If you don't give a [expletive] then why are you complaining?
I do hope you're trolling.

My problem isnt in what the Op said but what was in his subject title. ****** is NOT the correct term for a homsexual person! Seriousy OP... You said you were a sciance student. If your that smart than you should have tried to avoid derogitory subject titles.  Some people on these forums might just take offence to it.

There's a bug (at least I hope it's a bug) in the conversation with Anders after his quest in Act I where by being polite you end up in a dead end with two "flirt" options and one "broken heart". If you chose the "broken heart" the response is very tactful, unlike Anders' reaction. Either way the conversation cuts and you lose 10 approval points for being straight. This is wrong and Gaider needs to clear this up, because I hear the man has a wife.

I don't think his having a wife has anything to do with it but, moving on:
This seems unfair, I agree, but at the same time I enjoy games having situations which can happen in the real world. Mainly, there are times you have to let someone down if you don't swing their way.

Anyway, if this is your only real gripe then I'm not sure why you had to sound so intolerant in your post. Unless, of course, you're one of these homophobes I've heard talk about.

Where's the Transgender Hawke? Or the Bifestive Hawke (ie. the Hawke that only goes for the same-sex when drunk and someone has a camera handy).

500 years ago? I thought this was set in the 90s. Oh well. I rephrase then: the Hawke that only goes for the same sex when drunk and has a bard bard/artists around to paint their picture". Thedas needs a facebook.

I thought the latter was called sorrority ****?  Bi-festive does not exist.  Bi-curious exists.
