Fully bi romantic interests is an improvement, I think. In itself. Where it lets down in this game is in the same place as so much else. The limited development shedule. Also, I think, it's too direct maybe. The romantic respons should take a bit of effort to push. That seems only to be true for Merril, and just half-true for that.
Only true homophobics can be annoyed about characters that aren't really gay, unless you yourself is.

1 thing is clear for me..if ME3 has a ****** Shepard ...i'm done with bioware ..( ME had only 1 true lesbian option ..in ME2 Kelly...and that was secondary ...asari were 1 gender blue aliens that could "meld" with any specie in the galaxy ..so femShepard + Liara was not a TRUE lesbian romance )...so i hope ME male shepard will stay straight or i'm out of here ...but that's only my opinion

I don't see your problem. My Shepard was straight as an arrow. If you don't like to go for sausage, then don't hit on  the hunks. Although, considering your man-beef forum avatar, I suspect you are still undecided.

I tend to agree, but this should be supported by backstories. Simply making everyone romanceable by every gender is lazy. And that's about all the criticism you will hear from me, since personally I always liked Bioware for their liberal approach to sexual preferences - and for the records, I'm straight.

How about this: The game lacked immersion, right? You lose your siblings, you lose your mother, and all you think is 'duh'. No emotional connection.

Let's Hawke get raped by a gay qunari, to give him emotional incentive to not click the green button all the time when dealing with the Arishok.
Then let a possessed templar assrape Hawke , giving him a powerful motive to butcher either templars or mages without regred.

And to give all those homophobes here the final bit of satisfaction, let Hawke rape them back in an epic act of vengeance ... or Justice, if Anders accompanies you.
Or - since it's Bioware and we all like choices - you get to marry your ex-rapist... I'm a sucker for romance, y'know.
