Hmm, me thinks alot are overthinking this. Humans were ushered by the Council after the fluke of holding off a few Turians. We definately would have been destroyed if a full fight happened.

We're the jack of all trades but master of none. All the other species have evolved to specialize, we just do it all, not the best at all but we do it all.

And ultimately, that's not what diversity means nor it is the POINT. The Protheans were a single race more advanced than ALL current galactic civilisation and provided the only opening for current galactic civilisation to survive, and ultimately a Reaper could not be made out of them, just Collectors. Genetics is the word, and Bioware doesn't really need to explain how, mapping out a genectic map so hardcore fans can find the anomalies ourselves.

It's simply a combo of our genectics work for whatever the Reapers look for, combined with a bit of...well not respect or fear, but a human's persistence and leadership keeps foiling their flawless plans.

As much as I disagree with saphra and his/her blind patriotism, there's one valid point: The Council is succumbing to a rapid degeneration of it's own array of cultures and history, and will join the faceless, culturless, and tasteless state of the Human race.

The Council and Citadel Space are more concerned about the impact a species has on the galaxy and their expansion as well as the influence they will have than how long they've been there.

They see how fast humans have evolved since finding the mass relays, the technology they've produced and having a fleet that rivals the Turian fleet after barely being outside of their solarsysytem. - Of course they are going to want to invite us into the citadel and give us an embassy, they want our "power."

No doubt there are foreign guests who behave badly. No doubt too, that there are naturalised foreigners that behave badly. No doubt further that there are indigenous peoples who do so also. However, we here in Europe produced for ourselves Hitler and Stalin, to name but two in a long, long list of folks behaving badly. Race is not a precursor to crime.

No. Thinking brown people are inferior, that's racism. Thinking white people are arrogant pricks must be partways true, since some are. We all come across them. Thinking that yellow people barely have pricks is only of interest if you're curious about other men's pricks.
