Sten is not even Human! He's a "giant", intercourse might be damaging.
Furthermore gorillas have tiny ones compared to a even a prepubescent boy.
Exactly. This is why I don't find romancing Sten scary at all.

Regardless of his physical appearance, Sten is a more intriguing person who isn't just intriguing for romance as its so hard to imagine, but it's the secrecy around him.
I LOL'd a few times during random convo's where Morrigan was hitting on Sten, however o.0;

I'd love for Sten to have been romanceable option.
Wynne would be odd, considering she's an old woman (a granny).
Oghren, would be hysterical as romanceable option as well
Wynne may be old, but she's one of the most well-written NPCs imo. I suppose the appeal of a romance option depends on whether someone sees relationships as an avenue of personal growth and understanding or just sex.
** Minor spoiler follows **
Either way, Wynne may talk trash about being old but she still has quite a feisty side.
Wynne is one of the most well written companions, no doubt. I really like her, and seeing as you could give the main character an elderly skin complexion... I dont see the problem. Heck, I am a fan of Gmilfs anyway. It is really cool to see an older woman that is confidant in her old age. Also, Wynne doesn't look that old. She is a pretty hot looking grandma.
Wynne, Morrigan, and Sten are easily my 3 favorite Companions.
SPOILER ****
Loghain is another of my favorite companions because he is voiced by Simon Templeman, who is the voice of Kain from the Legacy of Kain Games.
END SPOILER
Oghren and zevran annoy me personally. They are my least favorite characters, and when they talk I wish I was the Grand Galactic Inquisitor from the venture brothers... and I could just shout "IGNORE ME!!!!" To each their own tho.

I do agree with the poster that said he probably would never consider getting involved with any not of his race. His devotion to his purpose/beliefs would override any feelings he may develop.

So, I open this idle thread merely for the fun of discussing: am I the only one who, given the choice between Alistair and Zevran, would have chosen Sten? For that matter, I do not know much about Wynne yet, but is there someone who would have liked to romance her instead of that awesome Morrigan or that annoying Leliana?
Leliana could never be annoying, unlike the occasionally irritating Wynne. And even though Wynne doesn't actually look geriatric, she makes it quite clear that she is. So I'd vote no on that one.
But Sten is the most awesome male character by far. He might even be my favorite male character out of all the Bioware games I've played. So if he was romanceable I'd definitely pursue it.

I'm very glad to see that I'm not the only one who would have been interested in a romance with Sten. Maybe there is hope for Bioware to take notice of that and make a similar kind of romance for a future rpg; or maybe someone with good skills can make a mod (I'm usually not a fan of romance mods, but that may be the occasion to try one of them).
I liked Sten at first glance because I've always had a thing for tall, strong, barbaric-looking, virile guys. Not all the ladies want to romance the sensitive, talkative and oh-so-nice character.
But, as my heroine's affinity level with Sten increased, I got to like him even more. He has an interesting background story, a curious personality, and a very peculiar view of the world. And as I'm someone who has practically spent most of her life studying foreign cultures, I find Sten's origins to also make him more exotic and charismatic - I always adore it when he speaks in qunari language.
In this thread, someone mentioned that for qunari culture, mating with another race is quite probably an unacceptable conception, akin to a warrior losing his own soul-sword. Yes, exactly - and I find it very stimulating. I think it would make for a very compelling plot development. Imagine the huge moral confusion that would ensue. Not to mention the cultural clash! And it would also make Sten a very difficult character romance to develop. I think it would have been much more interesting, on a purely narrative point of view, than Alistair or Zevran (though I still don't know much about Zevran yet, mind you, so I could be wrong on that one).
But Sten is the most awesome male character by far. He might even be my favorite male character out of all the Bioware games I've played. So if he was romanceable I'd definitely pursue it.

Sten LOL .. I imagine Sten in a romance.. seriously .He's a stoic guy and the Quunari religion it's all about Combat and war. He's not the kind of guy to tell you howq much he love you and want babies.
And that's the point, exactly. My type of guy.

I like the term 'romance' over 'hooked up'.

Yes that would make her a cougar. A refreshing change from the constant '20 somethings' that are always shoved down our throats.
Mass Effect aliens don't count.
As it is though, she is completely matronly in the game, so it just doesn't work. In fact she reminded me a lot of the hero's mother in the Human Noble playthrough.
Sten would be great.
Missed opportunites, hopefully they will capitalize them in the next game.

I think I recall a convo between Sten and Leli about sex, and Sten mentioning what attributes it involved with Qunari. I don't think size would be the most painful part of it.Biefstukfriet wrote...

Mmmmh, are you sure you're not mistaking and you actually wanted to write it was a conversation between Morrigan and Sten? Because, if you haven't mistaken, then I think I'll have to put Leli in my party and start going back and forth over that Orzammar bridge.

No jokes, I finally met him and I think he's kind of cute! But,

...isn't he already married? I still have to go in the Deep Roads though, so I don't know how it all ends.
