First let me explain as to why DA O was crashing
ill put it as simple as possible, DA O is a 32bit program, so its access to the RAM is only limited too 2gb
but since the people running this game on a 64bit OS system with more then 4gb ram it made the game quickly use up its limited 2gb RAM alowence resaulting it in crashing randomly, sometime a little, sometime alot
Now apparently Fallout 3 had this same problem and a few people had fixed it by changing how much RAM the program had access too, lucky for us this fix also works for DA:O
Now its not the exact same program i used from a post in a previous forum that seems to of gone missing! but it will do the same thing, since its fallout all you have to do is when it says Fallout3.exe, just use daorigins.exe and follow the same steps but with the DAO exe file,
For windows 7 64bit its in this directory
Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Dragon Age > bin_ship
For windows vista 64bit its the equelivint of what 7 is lol sorry im not sure exactly
ive tried it on mine and it seems to work fine, but remember BACK UP YOUR .EXE file
this should work untill bioware decide to address this bug

EDIT: also i did a bit more searching and found a post from AllThatJazz confirming that he/she has found another ram mod parch that changes the .exe allocated ram from 2gb to 4gb, once again this is only useful for 64bit OS
this one is much simpler to use then the Fallout 3 Ram boost mod
http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php
use this at your own risk as i nor the creater of the program do not hold responsability for anything that can go wrong, neither does AllThatJazz, my best advice is to back up your DA .exe file, so if it does stuff up all you have to do is copy in the backup file and it will restore to before you applied the patch
