So, I have been quite particular about my coffe during my romp through Dragon Age: Origins. I currently use a French Press style of making my coffee, Leliana would greatly approve;) Even more appealing is my local newspaper just released an article citing a Harvard study about coffee, and it had many excellent findings about this wonderful bean. To expounds on some of the benefits, it includes lowering rates of colon cancer, type 2 diabetes, parkinson's disease, heart disease, and increasing life span. Interestingly enough, while many believe coffee to be high in caffeine, it really only contains 2% caffeine, and 98% "other stuff," including more than 1,000 diffrent compunds such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Researchers at the Spanish National Research Council in Madrid finds that each cup of coffee contains 1.1-1.8 grams of fiber, the kind that dissolves in water and helps prevent cholesterol from being absorbed by the intestines.

So I grind my own beans, slightly coarse, and right now I have a couple favorites.

Sulawesi Kalosi from Indonesia, seasonal beans, purchased from Starbucks. I have now tracked down the last 3 bags in my town, out of roughly 8 or so stores. This will make 5 bags weighing in at 1 pound that I have acquired of this particualr blend:)

Also worthy of note is the Starbucks: Anniversary Blend; Thanksgiving Blend; Sumatra; Komodo Dragon; Italian Roast; Espresso Roast. Also at select stores around town, there tend to be silery baggeed coffee beans, often organic, which are quite delicious as well, even if their names escape me now. That's what I get for not carrying any on hand.

So I do especially enjoy the Starbucks variety of beans. I was in Publix supermarket the other day and considered buying some beans from their various dispensers in the coffee section. However, upon inspection, those beans appeared to be dry and cracked, nothing like the dark black and oily beans that Starbucks quality tends toward. When I handle the beans, I like for there to be a slight oily residue leftover on my fingers, that to me is a sign of some powerful stuff!

So what is in YOUR cup this 24 hours?

I usually drink a strong Earl Grey I got bought from Teavana. Coffee not so much as I'm not much off connoisseur in that department. Usually when it comes to coffee I just drink whatever is on hand at work (various superior coffee blends) or the generic Starbuck's at home. Diner coffee on the other hand is a whole nother (bad) experience that I like to indulge in on occasion.

I think just because of this thread I'm going to pick up a Venti caramel macchiato and sit in front of my PC for some serious deep roads action.

Holy moly! Try their Thanksgiving Blend, it should be the secondary brew aside from Pike's Place. Pike's Place is so tired, I am sick of it, bleck!

But yeah, get the Thanksgiving Blend, nice tall Venti!

Man, there is a Dunkin Donuts across the street from my house. Life is good. I used to grind my own beans, but laziness has one out. I have recently discovered that Folgers "Black Silk" actually tastes good in my drip coffee maker.

The real problem with DA:O and fancy drinks is this.

If you make a wonderful hot cup of coffee and start playing dragon age, by the time you remember to take a sip of coffee, its cold.

If its a beer, your beer has gone flat.

If its water, it already has all evaporated.

I mean, you can't enjoy anything and dragon age, its just only  Dragon Age!

Simple solution, just die more often or discover the joy of traveling.

Hmm

I favor a Columbian bean.

On Fridays tho I treat myself to a black and tan.

Bass Ale topped with a frothy half of Guiness Drought.

Frosty pint glass icey cold.
