 Hello!

I just started playing Mass Effect 1 a couple of days ago, and have now gotten to the Rift Station.
Here i've been running around doing stuff, and i've come across the little "camp" here.
And i've gotten the antidote quest or whatever and as I was looking around this "camp", i came across the "restricted area", which i entered and was attacked by all of these former allied ERCS soldiers (?!) and as i explored this area, and the returned to the "camp", they attacked me there too and the captain (Ventralis) also attacked me so i killed him, and i had a quest mark on him, which is still there now but he's dead (?!). I then entered the "camp" and they attacked me there yet again, but only the soldiers not the sick scientists and such, they were just cowering on the floor. So i went to the Hot labs place, and did the thing there and now when i return there are no people left at all at the camp. And I now wanna get into the quarantine labs, but it's not possible...

What has happened?
And will i have to restart the entire game now, as I've been stupid enough to keep overwriting my saves and now can't load a save prior to this incident.

Any help appreciated :D

Hi Komaqtion! Nope, you won't have to restart. Go and speak to the little fat Volus Han Olar. He will send you to the doctor who can give you a key to "sneak in the back way" and deal with Benezia if you haven't encountered her already. (You have to do a mini mision to mix a cure for the scientists before he'll give it to you and you'll have to kill an annoying Asari scientist first.) Once you've killed Benezia you'll have access to the quarantine part and another conversation with a scientist ( and you must go and take his key after he is killed) which will give you access to the neutron purge and a count down... Anyway I don't want to spoilt the whole thing for you you. Go and play it!
Seriously tho'... Your main problem is you've gotta speak to people in the game to get the quests and know how to complete them, don't just go round shooting everyone first then asking questions afterwards! I'll post this then check back later to see if that worked for you. Drop me a line anytime. Always happy to help!

Well, there is a small problem with that, which is that the doctor isn't there anymore...
Everyone is gone :(

Where is Volus Han Olar anyways?

And for the "Shoot-first-ask-questions-later" part, I have never had a taste for the actual story in games XD
I just like exploring and see what i can find :P And I always try to do it the "bad way", but this time i have tried to be good :D It's just that being good always means harder work ;)

If you don't have saves from before you breached the restrictive area, they're all gone for good.

Okay... First time I played ME1 I did it your way and killed pretty much everything that moved in Rift station including Ventralis. But the scientists were still there afterwards, so let me see if I can remember how that worked out.
Have you had the boss fight with Benezia? You get to talk to the Raccni queen who will tell you to kill her children cos they are insane aftrewards. That will trigger the door that leads you out and back upstairs into a 'hub' which should get you to an elevator that will take you to a Russian scientist. Have a conversation with him and he will be killed part way through. Kill the Raccni that murdered him, take the key from his corpse and go through into the room behind him, activate the neutron purge then run like hell back through the room filled with Raccni to the lift and shoot anything in your path.
It is possible that since you did the hot labs and quarantine rooms that you already killed all the raccni and might be able to leave. Have you tried going back to the tram station? If it will let you leave you don't need to blow up the beasties.
Filaing that you'll need to go back to the last autosave before it all went wrong and hop it can be salvaged from their, otherwise you'll have to replay the whole Novaria mission.
Let me know how this works out.
Gotta say tho' if you're not doing the story you are missing a great deal in this game. If all you want is to explore and shoot you'd be better off with FEAR.
